EDIT: At the moment, it appears my hosting is being a dick. I'll go ahead and attach the files in a minute.

Some of you may have seen this in my album - it's pretty much done and it turned out better than I expected. While I don't expect that much will come of these, I might might as well post them anyway since I'm probably not going to do anything with them.

Included in the .max file is a high-poly model and a low poly model, each in their own layer. You should be able to bake some normals using the high poly, but idk, go put the High Poly in Crysis or something, lol.

I'm releasing this under a Creative Commons Attribution License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/). Basically, don't claim it's your own. Other than that, you're free to do whatever you want - tweak it, make it tacticool, throw it in your shitty boxmaps, do whatever.

Of course, comments/crits are welcome. This is my first high poly model and I know I have a lot of room for improvement.

When you rendered the high poly one, did you use Vray?

Also, cool, thanks. :o

For all but the top most one, I just used viewport screen shots since I don't feel like waiting 2 hours for a render :P.

For the top one, I just did a standard clay render but used two omnis instead of a skylight.

Good show legionaire. Great model.

I think we should encourage releases like this by creating a studio releases section.

It's attached - the high and low poly should be in glock18.rar. This is my first time exporting out .3ds files, so if you have any issues with the files let me know and I'll try and get you a working copy.

Great model, was kind of fun to make an origin for what with the detailed indents and what not, even if it is the high-poly model. +rep, good sir. :D

After getting a good nights sleep and playing with the model for a bit I realized that there are a lot of issues and errors with the current model - as it is, the gun wouldn't work. I flew it by a family member who has played with Glock pistols before and he pointed out some other things that can get fixed - they aren't showstoppers but I think I'll fix them anyway. There are also plenty of spots on the low poly that can get cut down and cleaned up better, so I think a version two will probably be posted sometime soon - I'd like to have some normals baked out by the end of the week, even if they aren't particularly good.

Right now the test normals I've run have turned out kind of crappy - I've played with the projection settings and such but I think it has more to do with the models themselves than anything else, although I'd like to finish UV'ing it first and then seeing what that does for me.

I just imported one from an fpsbanana pistol I had lying around, but it would be nice if you custom-created one for it.

There should be a magazine for both the high and low poly models - I might have forgotten to include it when I exported to .3ds though.

Sleep deprivation is fun :D. I'll rar it up later and post mb.

Will this be like the Glock 18 in counter strike where you can flick a switch to make it 3 shot burst?

If you want to turn it into a weapon skin, then yeah, it will just replace the weapon model.

I don't really have a goal for it - I just made it to get some practice and to play around with making high poly models. If anything, I'd probably just keep it in full auto and set it up like a machine pistol.

BTW, due to life and shit, I'm pushing the normal mapping stuff back to a week or two - whenever I have all the stuff on my plate done.
