I have installed neotokyo to try out what appears to be an awesome game, it installs fine, everything is good to go, then I open up connect to servers....
It gives me "could not connect to master server!!!"
Well I obviously know that my firewall is blocking whatever app that gets to the master server, but the problem is just that, idk what the app is called that connects to the master server, so I have no way of unblocking it. My firewall allows games such as synergy and tf2 and insurgency to connect, so I have no idea what is up with this, help plox.
(also I added the hl2.exe, did not fix)

So this is a Steam problem how?

I downloaded it and it's amazing. I didn't have any problems connecting, sorrry. Anyone here who could help?

I just enjoy blaming steam. :downs:
But yeah, I made my own server and experimented, and had to do some configuration on the controls, can't believe they made the default for crouch to be c, you can't strafe at all, changed it to ctrl.

I have my crouch key set to C, Jump as E, and action as X...works like a charm.

Use your thumb or pointer finger to press C. You can still strafe with one of the other three fingers. =S

That's how I have it set up, just like good ol halo. :downs:
Edit- But seriously, I need help figuring out what program to allow access to the master server.

Problem with this is that it doesn't work well in any game where leaning is actually useful.

And tbh, given that you'll almost never use the action key for anything but picking up the ghost, it's not all that annoying to have it set to something odd.

I rarely use leaning in any game I might tap it once to look around a corner, but if I have to be so cautious that I have to stick my head slowly around a wall, might as well just retreat until a good opportunity comes my way.

I grew up with E set as jump because that's how it was in Battlezone, which had the original WASD[-E] setup. Half-Life changed it to WASD-Space later that year, so everyone else followed suit.

WASD-directional controls

Tab-Change weapons/Last Weapon Used

E-Jump

C-Crouch

X-Action

F-Flashlight

G-Change Grenades

R-Reload

Space-Melee

Shift-Sprint

X is actually pretty intuitive for the Action key, just move your index finger down a little. You never need to press Use while jumping, so it pans out. Space is melee because mashing space makes more sense when punching someone than when jumping, otherwise you get a spacebar mash ever other second because you're bunny hopping like a mofo. C for crouch is admittedly a little awkward, but that was the default UT2k3 control, thus it stuck with me.

I have leaning as Tab and Q, Tab is usually the button to check objectives/scores but I have that binded as F1. I need to have E as the use or action button in ANY game.
