DESIGN A MODACITY LOGO! (even for people who aren't artists)

HEY, READ THIS:

MODACITY NEEDS A NEW LOGO. DESIGN ONE AND MAKE IT GOOD. SHITTY LOGOS WILL NOT BE USED (even if that's all we get).

Seriously, we really need a new one. This is srs bzns here. The current one is too CAPITAL and bold and italic and underlined for anyone's taste. It's essential now that we get a new logo, especially with the number of changes that are soon going to be seen by the community.

We're still Modacity (not mod-a-city). The logo should not relate to its "literal" name (modding a city - what?) and doesn't NEED to be Halo. Don't make anything cheesy either, and try to use blue, gray, and white as the colors. No other random colors please, but different tones and similar colors of the aforementioned are OK. Make sure it looks good on a background similar to the Halo header or the Source header (dark colors).

Also, you can still design Cerebrum and Synapse logos (THEY ARE SEPARATE APPLICATIONS DAMMIT) if you want. No restrictions. Let your imagination run wild. Winners get special recognition and a developer badge for the stats system.

BONUS: The Podcast needs a logo too. The two logos can relate to each other if you want. It should be easy to create a podcast logo if we have a Modacity one (not really the same for other way around). I don't want to say that you can't submit a Modacity logo without a Podcast one, but if you want to include it, they can do that too. Even if they don't go hand-in-hand, I'm not too pissy about that. I really care more about if they're both creative and unique in their own ways that make them appealing.

Whatever you do for the logo, do not even consider submitting an official logo without the Modacity name somewhere. We're not looking for just a symbol. You can either style the text to be fancy and have something unique in it (like Microsoft's logo), you can have a symbol incorporated into the logo (like Bungie), or you can keep the symbol and text separate and unique but still have them still go together (like Xbox). You don't need to keep the gear either. Start from scratch if you'd like.

ALSO WORTH MENTIONING: If you have concepts, but you're not really an artist, YOU CAN STILL SUBMIT THEM. I don't really want you to type out your ideas in text though - draw them, then sue text to describe what you're doing. If you have an idea, draw it on paper or make a concept in paint, then post it. The more ideas we have, the better. If someone creates a logo based on your concept, you both get credit.

Also, to the Podcast: (Synapse is pronounced as "sin" (short i) not "sine" (long i). This isn't trig you idiots.)

Prizes for this are not yet known, but Ghost says he wants to do something good. So...

Yeah, colors should be on the lighter side. If you place it on the Source header background, and it stands out, then it's good. Use whatever light shades of colors you want, as long as it looks good with that color background.

I strongly think the key for the logo is in the text now. It's a long name, so it stands out much more than any symbol. You can't just have an awesome symbol next to plain text, either.

What made me like King's a lot more (aside from the original glyph) was the text. It wasn't just the plain default Arial that has no creativity in it. His choice might seem a little cartoony, but at least it wasn't boring.

Almost every logo here seems to have text modified in some way, whether it is by color or by some style. Hell, with a lot of these, you can simply pull out the text and it looks great even without their little symbol.

Would be interesting to see this with corners that aren't so rounded on the letters. The colours should be a little darker in tone and a bit more diffuse or as people said before, matte.

Btw, Can I get a copy of that PSD file? I think I may be able to tinker with it and send the result back to you.

I was thinking more of map making - more on Urban style maps since people can relate to why. If I give it a peaceful meadow with trees...it just doesn't fit.

Something you might want to change is the left side on the city skyline. It should fade to background color or transparency at the "stem" of the "d." same with the right side but the length on that one seems right.

I'll go back and replace the skyline. Any ideas? I wanted to put mc, the crysis bio armor and heavy there, but that seemed a little too complex for a logo and might run into some legal issues later on.

Sorry, that's my fault. I was using 3 vantage points because some were one point perspec. and others were 2. Originally there was 2 but needed a third to finish off the rest

For the Modacity gear, do everything reaper man said and make the inner part of the gear a light tone of blue.

The TF symbol should be Source orange.

Make the Halo "O" larger and put it behind the text then add and fit an "O" of the Modacity letter font inside the larger "O" that is in Halo font.

Also, all text seems to need a drop shadow or something, just to give it some depth.

It's a good thing I posted the transparency, I couldn't see the faults in the reflections from within photoshop.
Just got to fix up some of the colors and I'll be done.

try going "about:config" , then line "gfx.color_management.mod" then try switching between 0, 1 & 2 in the value, maybe that can fix

The dark orange is because I don't know what font that is, so I just used the color changer tool in Photoshop and it didn't work all that well. The gear I just did quickly to get an idea, and as for the stretching, I don't know. I just used the source logo and erased the TF2 part then cleaned it up a tiny bit :v:
