Yes I am sure yall are familiar with the levels on the weapons, but does anyone have any idea what valve is going to do with it? Personally I think it will be things such as crit occurance and range, ect.
Also post your star weapons and their levels:
Huntsman; Lvl 100
Flaregun; Lvl 0
Axetinguisher; Lvl 95
Jar of piss; Lvl 80

Something tells me they're just random levels that won't have any meaning :mech:

Actually, I read something about valve going to add specific changes to them, like accuracy, damage, crit rate, etc
Axtinguisher Lv 95
Backburner Lv 68
All of my good ones right now.

Yeah, but then what the hell will the lvl 0 flaregun do? I am kind of anxious now to see what it does.

Srsly? Wow
I think the highest level weapon is 81, natasha but it was kinda recent that i noticed thelevels on the weapons. The first time i ran out of space for items i just deleted all duplicates =/

I just thought the levels meant how much more powerful the unlocked weapon was than the standard, to see if the tradeoffs were worth it.
For instance, the Backburner is 10 times more powerful than the flamer, but its missing the compression blast I've come to rely on for disposing of Demomen/Soldiers and extinguishing teammates.
I just wish the blast didn't use up so much damn ammo. I could waste half the ammo in my flamer clearing a sticky trap so my teammates could get through, or pushing a heavy off the edge of a cliff before he knows what the hell is going on, or even keeping an ubered medic away from his teammates. By then, I don't have enough ammo in my flamer left to kill anyone.
But I <3 the Pyro anyway. It's fun when you randomly catch spies on fire and watch as they panic. ^.^

They're an mmo joke, also weapon drops having a random level is a bug which Valve will be fixing, hth.
Also the backburner is worse in every way compared to the flamethrower so I don't know what you're talking about ^^

If you're behind someone with a regular flamethrower and can't kill them
stop playing tf2

The levels used to be broken so like all my stuff is level 90+
Except my backburner because I accidentally deleted it then got given it again.

I thought levels were static and just an arbitrary number Valve gave them with no actual meaning. :S

Got a source? Did they actually explain why they even put them in? (I've always thought they were stupid since the Medic Update).
ExAm

I saw it on the TF2 blog, that they didn't actually affect the stats, but were more of a way of differentiating one unlock duplicate from another, for novelty trading purposes, i.e. "HAY GUYSH, LOOK WASH I GOT, A LEVEL 96 BACKBURNER, I'LL TRADE YEW FOR YOUR LEVEL 87 FLARE GUN K?"
p0lar_bear

I thought the level numbering was ridiculous when it first came out, thus, fitting TF2's theme.

They were an mmo joke, then they got bugged so random drops gave out random leveled weapons, now valve gives out level 50 items to valuable community members (and level 100 items to themselves), hth

I miss that.
At least I got a Level 94 FaN, level 73 Dead Ringer, Level 60 Natascha, and Level 35 Sandvich out of the deal. :saddowns:

you can equip it on all classes bro
ExAm

you can equip it on all classes broI don't equip it on most other classes because I don't like how it looks on them. It removes the soldier's helmet, which is a more drastic change than anything that happens with the other classes, since his face is most often almost completely obscured.
