'tis true, my man. So a couple months ago Bela Fleck and the Flecktones came to Council Bluffs, IA to play at this venue called The Stir in Harrahs. Now seeing as that is like a 20 minute drive for me, I was pumped. So I go to get tickets and what the fuck?

21 and over only.

I thought it was the end of the road, but alas. My real good friend Jeff had been emailing them for a couple months complaining about the problem and so they let him into sound check. So I thought I might as well give it a shot. I emailed them saying how sad I was that I would have to miss their show and low and behold they emailed me back to show up before during sound check! They "there is going to be another kid doing the same thing, so just keep cool." So we went and wow. Victor was definitely the most laid back because he was going crazy during the warmups. After they warmed up, I met each one (Futureman is so intense up close) and when I was talking to Victor I mentioned I played bass. He was like, "Really? Wanna play mine?" I was shocked. He led me over to his wooden beauty and I played (like shit) for a couple of minutes. We both got a picture (I WISH it was digital! I only had a Kodak!) and we were off.

Yeah. It was bomb. :-)
