View Full Version : [COMPETITION] Texture the Hornet!

This is a great model... accurate, not too high poly, nicely smoothed... but wait... it's missing something!

A texture!

So here are the rules:

- Best texture (judged by how it looks on the model, how close it is to the Halo 3 texture, etc) wins.
- 1024x1024, please.
- No ripping. Automatic DQ.
- No screencapping. Automatic DQ.
- Bonus points for proper multipurpose and detail maps!

Final Submissions are due whenever the hell you feel like, which will probably be a Wednesday.

We're currently looking at possible prizes, but wanted to get it out there as soon as possible to get people started. Right now, I'm going to guarantee ONI Black Ops in Cerebrum to the winner, but we may include a cash prize as well.

Footnotes: The Hornet your are texturing was modeled by Hunter, who will have it unwrapped in a day or two. If you can start working without an unwrap (details and what not), feel free. The Hornet will be loosely animated and tagged for use in Remnant.

Is this actually a competition, or is it just you need/want the Hornet textured, so your whoring us out to do it? Also whats ONI black ops?

Of course it's a competition! Best texture wins, and there's a prize tbd.

ONI Black Ops is a rank the Cerebrum-Synapse devs who suck at Halo and couldn't earn a real rank want to stand out as being C-S developers get and which we hold as a carrot for whoring out work community help. Consider it our Recon.

You already unwrapped it as well. I started texturing it about 3 months ago for h3mt but stopped because its a boring texture to make :saddowns:. I personally would use dee's unwrap because its very easy to understand/see the islands.

I may finish my texture depending on how I feel because I've been feeling terrible all week. Haven't gotten much sleep. :ugh:

I'll do it if I can get a neat prize though :downs:

Well could Bacon use it for this Dee? Because then I can concentrate on getting this turret lower poly for Penguin.

I made uvw size 2048, just scale it down. I always texture at a higher resolution though.

I've done quite a bit of tagging and no how to make a vehicle like this? Heck, the Hornet could be done without even animating it, but that wouldn't look as good...

Well if you can make it function properly you're my new god. No one on CMT or Zteam has been able to come up with how to make it work properly.

maybe animations and functions. Like at the top of the animation tag, theres that function stuff. Then have 2 slots, 1 for an animation going down, the other for going up. And in the functions in the vehicle tag, make it to go with Hover or Thrust or whatever that works for it.

Well, we need participants for it to be a competition, and in general, yes, we'd like to have at least one person try to get it done.

i'll do it if you comply with my requests:

extend the deadline because i just now saw this thread. and allow me to have the tags when you do get it ingame.

if you'll do that i'll have it textured after i rework the unwrap. it's not a bad unwrap, but i prefer editing it to my liking. just lemme know through PM or visitor msg plz.
