I'm currently in Italy, but when I get back home I'm thinking about upgrading my system at some point.
Specs you can see in my page but:

CPU: Intel E6600 C2D (2x2.4GHz)
RAM: Corsair 2x1 GB
Graphics Card: eVGA Nvidia 8800 GTS 640 MB
Mobo: eVGA 650i
PSU: generic 500W
Running Vista 32 bit.

Is it time for an upgrade? If so, what should I upgrade? Should I wait for the Nvidia 300 series cards to come out so prices on graphics cards drop? Should I upgrade to 64 bit? Should I upgrade to Windows 7?

Looking for suggestions and opinions here, I haven't made up my mind. Money isn't too much of an issue here, but let's keep it within reach.

I think your setup is alright too. I'd stick with it for another year at least, personally. But that's up to you. It's all based on how much money you have to burn.

Eh, I guess. In a year I'll be going to college... I'll probably bring my desktop and some medium laptop.

2 GB of RAM is enough for pretty much all games right now, no worries. There's no point getting 64 bit without having more than 2 GB, and for now you won't miss anything by passing on either. Also, 64 bit Vista has the occasional compatibility issue. I run 64 bit Vista right now and I've had some problems with peripheral drivers that worked fine on 32 bit vista, but thank god I have a dual boot setup with 32 bit XP.

Heck, stick with it for two years or more. I have a friend who's been using a Geforce 6800 and an Athlon X2 since 2004 and he hasn't been complaining one bit about performance. Crysis runs playably on it, obviously the details can't be cranked up but even on low the game doesn't look like an eyesore.

I'd say your setup is good too, except maybe you might want to jump on to windows 7. Vista is a good os and all. But games do seem to run considerably faster on 7, much like xp give or take a little. On vista my laptop idling used about 49%-59% ram. On 7 it uses from 27%-40% Big difference. Laptop has 2 gigs of ram btw. Just my 2 cents. Stick with vista if you dont mind it, it's an ok OS.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't really wanna buy two more gigs because I know it won't all be used, so I might just buy one stick.. which hardly even requires me to open my wallet.
