For those of you out there looking for new video cards under a fair price. The HD4870 is the way to go. imo.

I found it 70$ off on newegg, just to save you some time here is the link..

Pros: This card is the best card for the money. it has a very good cooler which translates into high overclock potentials. Even though it is only 512mb i am able to (with my system. see other thoughts) play Call of Duty World at War maxed with full AA and AF playing at 1920x1080 resolution with 60+ fps. Using stock cooler i was able overclock it 830 core with 1200 memory. This is great card and for $150 it is the best.

Cons: It does not look like the one in the picture it has a different sticker. Which is not a problem for me, it still looks awesome and is face down in my case anyways..

(I just ordered it as well, thought I'd throw a thread up.)

Are you sure you don't mean the 4850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150337)? Or was the 4870 on sale recently for 40ish percent off?

Going by some of the reviews of the 4870 I believe gets about 5 or so more frames per second than the 4850. The cheapest (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131140) listed 4870 is still about $30-$40 more than the cheapest (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125238) listed 4850. It's a pretty good deal, especially seeing as they used to be $100+ more iirc, but over $100 can still be a deal breaker for some people, no matter the performance vs price.

$30 more gets you a gig of VRAM and a better cooler on the Sapphire.
