View Full Version : Video card driver conflict

I'm trying to run two monitors now. I have an NVidia 5500FX PCI card, and an Intel 845G onboard chip for video.

The drivers seem to conflict with each other. I can either run one chip or the other.

Anyone know of a workaround for this so I can use both at once?

I think that the motherboard automatically disables the onboard GPU when a graphics card is connected. Check around in the BIOS.

However, I'm not sure it's possible to use two gpus with different drivers at the same time.

Like Jelly said, the option to disable the onboard graphics chip should be in the BIOS.

You want to be able to use both?

In a hybrid?

Nevermind it's not, you're better off without the integrated. (Turn it off)

Why don't you hook both monitors up to the fx5500?

I'm guessing he's only got one DVI/VGA connector on it.

He may also have one DVI slot and one VGA connector, in which case you can get an adapter for like 10 dollars or something.

Holy shit, there are people still using video cards that old?

You're probably right. There are a few FX5500 with only VGA and s-video :ohdear:

That is mine. :(

And yeah, I forgot to mention that I (obviously) wanted to do dual monitors.

Your best bet is to get a new card. Do you at least have an AGP port?

Nope. Budget box.

My uncle had a spare monitor lying around so we wanted to see if I could double-head with what I have. Since I can't, fuck it.
