I wanted to know if there was a way to keep sprays as high resolution, but leave the textures low res.

When you create the VTF, make sure that it's set to have no mipmaps/lods.

If you can't run Source at very high then get a new computer hope this helps :gar:

To do what Polar said:
Get VTFEdit (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=178), open your spray image up with that, disable mip-mapping/LOD and then save it as a vtf. Drag it to a folder that's easy to access from Source and voila.
Google in for other ways to optimize it. IIRC, there's something you can about like, tweaking the size of it or something that makes it smaller. Just google around. /specificness.

I think only some of you understand.
Yeh my comp sucks and I am getting a fresh pretty one eventually.
But I am not talking about making a spray or anything, I would like all sprays to show up as high res, while all other textures remain low res.
I doubt that's possible though.

You can't, simple as that.
If you disable mipmaps, then all textures will be high res.
All you can do is bitch to the people who have unoptimized sprays, who will promply laugh and tell you to get a new PC.

Surely its 256x256.
IIRC, wrong.
Filesize is the limitation - it can't be over 120kb. Doesn't have to be a power of two but I think the game will resize the image to the closest power of two when you import the image anyway.

It's a known fact you get the best quality using a 256x256 image
give up.
