Hey all i just recently got back into mapping , and i was wondering , whats the best solution for getting the lighting in levels to look better and higher quality , and also to get the shadows to look better than the normal stuff , because i tried to create something before and it looks a right mess at the moment purely because of the shadows.
Thanks in advance

Aether.
Aether is just a tool, it doesnt do it all for you.
You use Aether to obtain the BSP and lightmaps. Then import the bsp into Max and apply the Lightmaps as a material to the BSP. Then place Omnis, Spotlights, etc to light up the map. Then bake it. The re inject the lightmaps using Aether.

Hey again all , i have been experimenting with Aether , and i cannot get the hang of it atall , i have viewed the tutorial , i already knew how to render to texture anyways before i viewed it , followed it step by step and its going awfull each time , if someone could lend me a hand with this one BSP then it would prove very helpful at the moment.

make sure to re size the import and use dither.
Make all the new lightmap bitmaps 1024, whenever I import them in as 2048 it exceptions.
