The Asus PCI-E sound card that came with my motherboard does 7.1 HD audio, I borrowed a guys X-Fi for a week or so once because I wanted to see if there was any quality change and there wasn't. The only thing I liked about the X-Fi was all of the options it had for recording.

Maybe it's because my ears are bad or something, but all you audiophile folk telling us guys with Z-5500's to get X-Fi's just seem like audio hardware enthusiasts. It's like saying you should get SLI'ed GTX 295's for a 17" CRT monitor, yea you've got all the hardware but it's not helping any.

Wait till I get my monitors in the mail, this will be the pinnacle of Nvidia 680i based systems!

Almost all H3 screenshots have that compression. It must happen somewhere between the xbox and bungie.net. I've been seeing it especially on screenshots outside Heretic, on the planet and nebula.

I find that running H3/ODST screens through Irfanview's sharpen filter does wonders to fix that.
