Thinking of getting more Ram

Right now, I've got 2GB, and I'm running XP Home, so the maximum supported RAM is about 3gb. If I were to get one more stick, would there be much improvement in games, etc., or would it just be a waste of money?

It would be better to go dual channel, so dont get one more stick. Get 2. even if the max is 3.25gb, having 4 so you can go dual channel is far far better than getting 3. Or you could stay with 2, which is better than having 3 on single channel, for gaming.

Adding a 3rd stick wouldn't interrupt his Dual Channel mode. His 2x1GB would stay in their current slots and he'd just add the extra 1GB into one of the other two slots. Only the additional stick would run in Single channel mode. I'm not sure if that would be faster than the 2GB in Dual Channel alone, though. It would be best to find two identical 512MB sticks so you can complete the dual channel pattern.

If you're going to upgrade that then just get 2x2GB, they are not very expensive anymore.

Eh, screw it. If I have to buy two more sticks when windows can only support one more, then I'm not doing it.
