e: Aha! I found what may be the only other photograph, taken by my less than brilliant roommate who was trying to prove he could hold the camera steady for a long exposure without a tripod. He actually did pretty well on that one... (there were several others, all blurry beyond any recognition)

That's me worshipping at the altar of the almighty microwave, and that's my roommate's girlfriend using the couch that took up all our floor space and yet was always so covered in my rommate's junk that it was unusable except by those with control over said junk. Yeah, he wasn't the best roommate, now that I think about it.

ee: for the sake of clarification, that room is not large because I actually had two roommates, and both of their girlfriends practically lived in that room. It was... awkward.

I know what you mean though, Cadet camp showers were pretty bad... Not as bad as trying to take a dump in a port-a-potty at -40° Canadian winter weather while on a training exercise, Ugh. The worst part was all the fumbling around to try and just get your fucking pants down because y ou had a bajillion layers of clothing on.

Good god, $350 more a year? A single cost $350 more a month than a double at my school, and no matter what room you had you shared a bathroom with the whole floor.

It's $260/week for me (it is catered though, but you can hardly call what they serve food), single room and I share 3 showers with 15 other people. Flatting next year will be infinitely better.

No one in my uni shares a room. You can get shared flats which each have a seperate room and just a kitchen/lounge.

I do know some one whos going into uni this year, and they have to share a room, unlucky for her. Does it have to be same sex btw when you share?

After first year, your pretty much on your own place wise, there is 1 floor per residence thats designed for non first years, but if you live there it means you have no friends that wanna share a place.

So yeah you gotta move outta residence really, I found a 3 place house, pretty crap but its in student area like 15 mins walk away.

I had my own room in a house of 4 students 500m down the road from Newcastle Uni for $120/week. It was about 2.3km from the shops, so it was well within walking distance (and there was a bus, too).

Lol. Here at AU, its like 5,000 a semster per dorm. Dorms are either 2 person or 3 person. Seniors get apartments. I believe each floor of each residential hall has 4 corner rooms (3 person rooms), 15 two person rooms, and 1 'RA' room which is the size of a 2 person room but is just for the Room Adviser for that floor. Some corner rooms have only 2 people assigned to them. Each floor then has 1 large bathroom with 6 toilets and like 12 showers. Meal plan here averages out to $10 a meal. At the same time though, we have a nationally ranked cafeteria. Freshmen here don't have to live on campus. As long as youre within 35 miles of campus you can commute. I'm commuting for right now. Drive 50 miles round trip a day to school :saddowns:

Boulder is fucking expensive. That in combination with the outrageous cost of this university- most of which goes to the fucking football team- makes things... difficult.
The US education system is fubar, anyway. I just want my expensive piece of paper that says employers are allowed to pay me higher salaries.

So there's a place on campus you're forced to stay at for at least a year? That's crazy. The place i'm staying at is around $5000NZD per semester, but I could stay anywhere I liked in NZ provided I could pass the tests. The vast majority of students down here either start in or move into flats with mates by the second year which cost around $2000 per semester for the room. Add power, food etc on top of that and it stills works out a hell of a lot cheaper. All the flats (privately owned) are within a 10 minute walk or 2 minute bike from the University, and a bus stop a minute away to take you anywhere in the city.
