I don't know if any one here know how easy it is to break ODST barriers, but it is extremely easy. Here are a few examples:
Mini Launching Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myzy7KjrTwM) - Shows launching capabilities
Out of Lost Platoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujz40L5IbqA) - Shows how to break almost any soft barrier
Out of Crater (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXUkPDf7oKc) - Shows how to break the large plasma shields
Just thought I would post this. If anyone is interested in doing any, add me on Xbox LIVE.

Whats the point of getting out of the maps in firefight? I've seen people do it but never understood why, the waves aren't time based they're kill based I thought

He can post whatever he wants
he's posting this simply because it would be a fun thing to do
sure, maybe it doesn't help you progress but if it doesn't that's obviously not the point
please refrain from doing this again

Better vantage point - snipe, return for ammo, rinse, repeat.

I was able to get the achievement for not killing any engineers throughout the campaign by joining a party that had been playing it for the first time from start to finish. I joined during the second to last mission, played through it, went on the streets, and when we got to dare it gave me the achievement.

You can get on top or out of almost every campaign level too.

let me point out that in firefight you aren't a spartan and will most likely get killed attempting to get to/setup/or during an attempt of doing the glitch

Not with ninja skills I'm afraid. :haw:
(don't kill jokes about ninjas EVERYONE knows it's not possible without you having to point out the obvious :smith:)
Like I've said before, Halo isn't a tactical game, your staminia is a handicapped shield, legendary was exactly the same, but without a cortana level. Of course I know firefight is nothing like a legendary campaign, but heh, there's nothing making me want to play that on legendary. :(

When compared to the rest of the Halo campaigns on Legendary, ODST's campaign is the easiest. It's just a bunch of evasion, strategic eliminations, tactical maneuvering, and survival holdouts. That being said, it does each and every one of those expertly, but it's still easier than fighting wave after wave of increasingly stronger enemies without getting any checkpoints, and later keeping a piss-weak biped alive, who is not only vulnerable to any and all enemy fire, but friendly fire as well (Truth and Reconciliation), taking down seemingly-infinite Jackal snipers, followed by wave after wave of Ghosts (Metropolis), let alone the hardest first level EVER (Cairo Station), or pushing through a hive filled with long-ranged, high-health, extremely accurate, highly perceptive wall- and ceiling-clinging ranged enemies with the ability to feign death and relocate at will (Cortana).
The worst things you have to deal with on ODST's Legendary difficulty don't even pose a major threat, since before each encounter you're given ample supplies to prepare for the worst. If you're finding Legendary difficult, you're probably going at it completely wrong - you're just an ODST, not a Spartan, and thus you must engage in combat accordingly.

What's it called where they stand on each other and somehow levitate up the wall? What's the mechanic behind that?

Its the elevator trick I believe.

And how does it work?

You get into a corner, get one person on bottom, one person standing on top of the other, and the person on the bottom jumps repeatedly.

Yeah, just get the bottom person to walk into the corner and mash 'A'. Also, I posted this because I think it is cool getting like 5 miles out of a map and seeing all these random bridges, buildings, and what not. This isn't to cheat in firefight.

Only thing this is useful for is probably for references.

It's called butterfly jumping, not "elevator".
What you need to do is get the player on the bottom to jump, then when he SHOULD be about to hit the peak of his would-be jump, the player on top jumps. When the player on top jumps, the one on the bottom will go up with him and for some reason, the game will allow him to jump again.
You just alternate mashing A, it can be hard to get going, but it's easy to keep up. A friend and I used this to escape Rat's Nest one time.

Oh, so it's just a timing thing, is it possible to do with one person/two controllers? Or does the fact that in Halo 3 the biped on top forces the biped on bottom to move make this hard?

The way we did it is not timing at all. Just have the bottom person walk into the corner and press A... the top player just needs to stand there. Extremely easy.

I'm having issues getting through the soft barrier, right before you reach the wall corner. We were trying it for fun, and we could get the warthog there, but were unable to eject through the barrier, much like the 3rd guy in the Lost Platoon vid. Is there a special trick associated with it?

Did anyone else find the elevator shaft that you can fall in and not die? I uploaded the video to my fileshare. You should check it out. It seems to me that ODST is full of glitches, worse than the other Halo games. You can tell that they were rather rushed.

I found that the AI pathfinding was especially bad, I often came across enemies stuck running against something or switching back and forth unable to chose a direction to run.

The only time I noticed that was in Firefight, when choppers might get stuck sometimes. However, I didn't mind at all because it gave me a little more time to hijack them.

I noticed that as well on Alpha Site, if you are near the stairs where you come in from in campaign, sometimes they get stuck walking into the small glass wall coming from the drop off point.
