Snafubar finished depoly'ing and fixing the model yesterday and I started unwrapping a few pieces today.

I NEED REFERENCE PICTURES! I'm a bit lost trying to texture the support structures under the map. There complex and I can't figure out where to put the strips.
Can someone with H2V get a high rez video and send it to me or just a bunch of screenies of the section of delta halo where you fight the 2 hunters that come out of the space ship and land on the thing floating in the water. The place right before you get on the boats that go across the water and you do the boss battle.

Changelog:
-Red base removed and moved to the building connecting it to the rest of the map.
-2 doors added to the new red base. The original door was widened to make room for players to actually get through it.
-Teleporters added at the corners between bases. They take you across the map to the symmetrical side.
-Removed 2 useless hallways.
-Fixed left entrance to blue base.
-Added a middle entrance to blue base. So there are now 3 in total.
-Fixed small other things and various model issues.

server sucked horribly, use a dedicated next time please. if you don't have one, contact me, I have one you can use that dosent suck.
The map seemed kinda weird in balance ways to be honest. the gameplay wasn't great in slayer, everyone was too close to each other when I spawned, and Koth seemed like the only good gametype while i was there. but seriously next time use a better server for proper testing.

I normally do use my dedicated server but it's broken. When I load any version of my haloceded it says my strings.dll is missing. Even though it isn't...

Changelog:
More massive changes to the map.
Fixed stray spawns and removed spawns that were terrible in the beta.
Lightmaps. Real lightmaps. Lightmaps that make the map look orgasmic even though the unwrap is horrible.
Changed the sniper platform at blue base.
Added delta on top of red base.
Instance geometry? With working collision? And BSP lightmaps? In my halo? What?
Skylights in blue base. It was dark and scary in there. :saddowns:
Moved some weapons around.
Probably other stuff I forgot.

2. Put some playerclip at the itty bitty ramps where the small pools of water are. If you try to strafe out of one you get caught on the ramp.

Already did the 2nd thing and I plan on the 1st one. That beta we played was just for game play. The map is much sexier now. As snaf has seen.

You can trash any kind of music with logic like that.
Tech is (IMO) somewhat like classical music. You have a single person composing 3, 4 or even 7 or 8 channels of audio. This is even done in real time at chip shows (never been to one but would love to). There is plenty of mainstream tech out there but people don't generally think of it as tech. There is also hardcore tech and people stereotype it as "nerd music" which is bullshit. I have a freind who is a complete metal head who likes tech because some of it is pretty intense and well written and he doesn't trash it for being "nerdy".

FINALLY! Someone who sees the light! If you don't have a good menu for people to Exit the map, how do you know they'll come back? The menus are one of the most essential parts of any map!
I can't believe anyone would leave such key modifications out of any custom Map!

That might be an option for Revelations, but definitely not this map. No one should have to be forced to have issues quitting this.

No, you can't change the thread title. I've tried with my own threads.
It's an option which is THERE, but there must be a bug in Modacity's permissions because while it says you've changed it, it doesn't actually change it except in the title you see when you go into "Advanced Mode".
I don't even think anyone can actually even SEE every reply's title.

Since snaf is doing work on the harbinger model and I'm waiting on a UI element for yoyov2. I decided to begin work on vertigo.

Fix the stairs - they have no player clip. I'd also say fix the map, its gameplay and function are lacking (though the form is done quite nicely in some areas) but I'm saving my monthly mapping rant/commentary for bigger better things.

Ok, so people that got to look at the map today, Inferno wants to know:
-What should be retextured or added to (other than what's obviously unfinished).
-What they thought of the atmosphere of the map
The textures are nice as is, the only thing I don't like is that the tile texture for the floors are too repetitive.
Personally think the atmosphere of the map is good, although it needs more plant life. If it's supposed to look brand new, there would be plants or something in those extruded parts around the center, and the very center patch of dirt would be a center piece of some kind. I think a massive tree would be awesome. Or put glass down and have random covenant AI duke it out in a box since it looks like it's an arena of some kind. Something.
The blue base needs something added to it, it's too empty as is. Covenant barrels maybe, or just add in some extruded blocks like there are in the AotCR rooms.
It'd be cool if the structures that aren't bases had the massive flares like the bases in infinity as well.
oh, and the skybox isn't finished if you hadn't realised :x

Are you kidding? I ran a test solo with snaf and there's plenty of cover outside of the bases, though only from one or two directions.

You should add weapon drop pods and covenant computers and weapon pods things.
Also, I was thinking about this. This doesn't really make sense if it takes place in the same lake as the one in H2. What might be a better idea is if the Halo 2 location is expanded on, taking place in an adjacent lake. I think at the beginning of The Sacred Icon, you can see more than one lake, but I'm not entirely sure. Even so, a little extra could be injected.
With the surrounding land, just make it look better. Add trees and bushes, much what you see at the beginning of the level Delta Halo.
Hell, what might even be more awesome is to have the covenant cruiser as an actual model (low poly, though) way in the distance, but not just a silhouette since it could take closer to it. Most could stay the same except for the wall and cruiser positions. Hell, you could even animate the covenant fleet slipspaces in the air. Too bad we can't have animations in the main menu though... :smith:

Apply a render-only flag to the ship's shader and cut out the polygons on the top that nobody would be able to see. You'd probably drop a good number of polygons.

Also anything that's back facing won't render anyways so I don't need to bother with it.

I said before that I the map should be in an adjacent lake to the one you see in Delta Halo and Regret. I thought it would be cool if you take a page out of Halo 3's book and have the flagship model coming out of the clouds, which would indicate that it is the same ship as the one in the Halo 2 Delta Halo/Regret sky, but you're just closer to it. Also, you would be able to use a much lower-poly model since it would be so far away and half would be covered, so that's 1/2 the polygons right there.
Check out the level Coastal Highway from ODST when the assault carrier starts coming out of the clouds.
Also, make it look good. Shouldn't it be purple?

What? All you have to do is have Con put the model in the sky...he made it anyway. Hell, that would even prevent any portalling problems.
As for detail, you'll see plenty. I don't think the distance should be any greater than the one in ODST, and that came out fine. But fuck, you should worry about the details of the surrounding hills and shit more than the capital ship.
