View Full Version : [UNREAL] Rigging MC to the UT3 Male skeleton...

Okay so I barely use the Biped system because I've heard it's crap, but I don't have a choice here.
I've not done any rigging before, but I'm going to try to rig MC to the UT3 skeleton for the mod. However the porportions seem to be off. Specifically around the hand/thumb area.

Is there some way around this or am I just going to have to have an ugly rig?

Biped systems are SO much better than regular bones because you can choose wether or not you want to lock the node to its position.

Just edit the bits so they fit on the skeleton better. And don't rig the hands. Halo's hands are just modeled into the "hold gun" position so you don't have to animate them.

Now, an elite...I'd like to see an elite rigged, even if it was just to the Krall model.
I know technically there's already an elite model, but as I've stated before...I just don't quite like the stylization :(

Elites won't fit on the Krall skeleton either. I've tried. :saddowns:

Whats the deal with custom rigs again?
You can either:
1. Size a model to the existing skeletons and have it use the base animations, or
2. Create your own model with your own skeleton and make an animation set specifically for that model.

Are the default halo animations formatted in such a way as to make conversion ridiculously difficult? (I imagine so)

totally different animation system, you'd only be able to use about half the animations.

UT3, if I remember correctly, uses 125 animations per biped skeleton. Not exactly something one could get done in a day... at least not without some pro skills.
