What? Stay calm guys, it's just an idea i'm dropping here..
First, let me thank you guys again for your great comments, i'm so happy lots of you are enjoying enjoy da map..
Ok, since the day we released, i cant help myself thinking the baby is not born that perfect..
Let me give you my little list of little improvable stuff that could turn da very good map ;) into the ultimate one :
- remove the "beta" word at welcome page.
- add one more "panic" teleporter at beach (near the the scorpion place) to give this side of the beach (less frequented) one more little interest + add even more posibility to reach the panic room.. (never usefull enough).
- when taking the panic tele to atv base, you land on the roof of it and almost fall in water all the time... You should better land inside the arv base..
- fix the atv problem (when getting out of it) someone was talking about if there's actually one (i didnt experienced it).
- 2 things i want to remodel : 1st wouldbe to make the middle garage wall longer, to prevent from too much interaction and fragging when trying to get a hog.. 2nd thing is I noted the way by walking to the flags in ctf is less used than the vehicle way, i think this is because the walk way is a bit too long, i have a simple idea to make it a little shorter : remove the vertical base's glass cages and ladders ( i would add a clean design to replace this but u wouldnt be able to climb anymor to the top tele witch would be removed also.. So in the end, the way by walk would end where the final corrodors before the flags cruz eachother (where there are the blue and red littles) there would be 2 teles there that bring u direct to the base's roofs.. In the end, thos also would mean a bit less polys..
- i also want to make some little modofs the the model at 2 other places.. Surprise ;)
- someone told me that the musics where a bit too compressed witch result in a bad quality sound.. Maybe improvable..

K, these are the modifs i'd like to make.. If you guys think of some other little things, just let me know, i'll consider your thoughts.. But dont ask big stuff.. Remember its a little update..

Last thing i wanna add is, im ready to do that but i need to know if inferno and firescythe would be with me on this cause there's some hek work + lightmaps etc...

What do you think guys? Is it worth it to have this second version around?

This is going to go on for ever. Why not just make a whole new yoyo v3?

Just my personal opinion that it's released and it's done and over with. Time to let it go and stop dragging it on.

But that's just my opinion, it's your map do what you want.

Thing is i wont make yoyov3 or any other map unfortnatly.. I must focus on my actor carreer and map is taking me too much strengh.. I think that these modifs are like a one month work.. Not sure i do it.. And again, depends on my ferno and fire also..

I like Freelancer's idea. I'd also like to see what YoYoV2 would be like in a different theme...

Another thing that would be great is to minimize the camping on each team's bases.

Once you learn the map, walking seems to be faster for to me.
I like the idea of a V2.1. Plus gives you plenty of time for it, you won't need to rush since you already have a public build.

After playing a a 1 hour game on CTF, I really think there needs to be another way up to the center sniper tower area. In the game I was in, blue team had a major sniper / rocket camper making it impossible to use vehicles or walking to get the flag. (6 person game btw)

Yoyorast's.

I really agree the the sniper tower has always been far too easy for 1 team to dominate (but killing anybody there does mean they have to get all the way back there which takes as logn as it does for you so you can whittle them down over time).

IMO, do it if you want to but take literally as long as you want, call it "Yoyorast: The Directers Cut" and leave it as the last version. Let it stand on it's own two feet, it's not your baby anymore, it's out in the big wide world giving hundreds of people hours of fun. :) (hundreds of hours in V1's case for me)

I'd like to see what changing the lighting scheme to dusk would look like, a la No Remorse.
It'd make some areas really fucking dark (though lights could be used vOv, flares might hurt some people's FPS even more though..).

I'd like to see some little changes made too. Yoyorast's and Freelancer's ideas are good and about the overshield, it should be somewhere else, like on the cliff edge before entering the red ramp.

IMO a teleporter to the ATV tower wouldn't be a bad idea (from the beach base) simply so that the sniper-tower has some more snipers to worry about (and all the sniper perches disauade people from trying to get there too often/travel times are a pain to walk up it).

I was flying around with my banshee at the bases, on the top of the bases there are teleports. I flew the banshee into one of the teleporters and got teleported to the top of the sniper tower so I lost my banshee.

Also, if you going to adjust the model, you might as well fix some of the shortcuts that were "fixed" with scripts. Having less scripts running would really help this map.

That is working as intended.

If you enter either of the random teleporters in a vehicle you are ejected and teleported.

Well, I like everyone's ideas. Do Yoyo's suggestions of remodeling the map... and make it dusk, or dawn... doesnt really matter.

The only "tunnel" is in yoyo's 1st post, but i doubt that was what you were talking about. (not very obvious if you were thinking that)

Anyway... Fix the garage. I hate these "everyone spam the hogs with nades" fights...

Agreed wholeheartedly. Beautiful forerunner architecture, and the snow compliments it perfectly.

Snowyorast Island does sound pretty catchy. :v:

This, a million times this.

There was a REALLY old map for CE a while back. It was during the winter and took place on an old english tyled bridge, circa 1912 maybe. It had beatifully executed snow and fog.

If there is anything in CE I enjoy the most, it's a map with good fog.

Got another vote for Snowyorast if it's got the dawn/night (Portent) lighting style to it!

You could model some background scenery instead of the boring nothingness that we have now that makes it look like the "Island" is actually an iceberg that just broke off a large Ice sheet. Than make all the "edges" of the island that are right at the water as it is now more cliff like (little snow bridges going to the panic room sub island, and for the tunnels going from it to the main island) so you'll fall off it into the water.

Modify all the Warthogs to have a white theme like the snowhog, and give them all treads. However we should leave the current V2 hog variations.

regarding the OS by sniper and rockets switch it with the active camo(?) i dunno just a suggestion

i played a game where red team completely locked down the area around the hill in KoTH and no blues were able to leave spawn because you had 2 red snipers by tower with OS and a third with rockets and the rest pistoling

These are small tweaks, nothing big Yoyo, I dont think its worth it, this close to release date. If it was remodeling alot of the map, I'd say yes but wait a while. I just don't see it being worth it.

Although I like the idea of the lighting being possible dusk time, it would be cool but not worth pumping out another version, we dont want version issues, people only playing 1 or not knowing about the other.

Tbh, these 'fixes' should have been worked out before initial release.

If you do a snow one, release it at Christmas :D

Snow is boring and overdone.* The map is already too gray and dim, so changing the ground to snow would just make the map more bland, colorwise. You should try for something else. The map should be vibrant, with each area distinct!

honestly, unless it's a dramatic visual change, there is no point to making another yoyorast. and i don't mean adding trees or changing the ground texture to snow or some other ridiculous crud.
