Why the hell don't I ever get a flood?
The news had me under flood warning(red) on the map, and all I got were puddles while New Jersey got all the fun stuff.
School didn't get cancelled, all the rainwater drained a few blocks down into the beach, and I was left pumping out the water that pooled in my boat's sagging cover over and over again.
Fuck.

Never had a flood here either, although the park down the back of my place turns into one massive puddle once the pool nextdoor overflows, runs under the fence and through our yard, taking all the topsoil with it, then out into the park http://sa.tweek.us/emots/images/emot-argh.gif
So yeah, I take it you guys got a sprinkling of rain over there?

Rofl, that's intense. We don't get flooding over here, or tornados or hurricanes or volcanos. I still dont feel safe though, with sitting ontop of a massive subduction zone. Apparently the city will drop over 3 meters when the plate snaps back, destroying most of it :'(

let's see, colorado has, er... well, the snow never gets deep but it's always there =P ... um... oh we had tornado warnings last year, no joke. An undeveloped funnel went right over my house, it was freaking awesome, but no real natural disasters for a while. nope, all we get is idiots driving and crashing left and right.
hope you didn't have any significant water damage penguin- I assume you don't have basements there? when I lived with my parents, my whole gaming center was below ground level, as is my computer currently at my dorm. i'd be fucked if that happened here. Thank god for hills.

no we got basements >_> every picture that you see, there should not be water there (expect for 2). these are all like fields and regular roads. no water anywhere by normally >_>. and i lucked out. in order for my house to flood, my entire town has to be under about 400 ft of water <3 high ground

few years ago we had heavy flooding in an my old city. luckily, the city was built under the assumption of heavy flooding, so all homes were vaulted on cement foundations. the water was 20 inches deep, maybe more.
this year we've had 3 tornados, and we haven't had any for about 30 years prior.

How does this water go away usually? Like its shown on tv but then you never see how long it takes. Does it get evaportaed by the sun or what?
