Okay, story goes that my friend has a mouse that's tiny as hell, but it's made of clear plastic (and see through blue on the top)... what this means is that when he uses the mouse the red light from the optical laser in it goes everywhere, making it abundantly clear to everyone that he's using his mouse. Most of the time it's no problem.. but I'm ADD in the way where I see OHH SHINY and it distracts me.

I want to 1 up him.

I want to make the weirdest, most distracting, silly mouse ever. So I bought this one.

The part that your hand rests on is filled with water, which I figured would help brighten up the whole area if I get a LED or two in there.

Soo I bought some LEDs

Now, the plan is to fit a few LEDs into this mouse case to brighten up the whole thing. If I could make them blink on and off that'd be great, but I dunno how to do that.... so I'm just gunna attempt to make the mouse be extremely bright and obnoxious.

I figure if all else fails with this mouse, I'll at least have a nice big enclosure in the back if I drain the water where I can put some LEDs and such in.

I don't have too much experience with this type of stuff, so it'll be interesting... but I'll keep ya'll posted.

Another thought was if it would be possible to get one of those "plasma balls" to be in the base of the mouse right where you rest your hand.

Sadly, I don't know if that's possible at this moment.... and I'd doubt it is. I'd have to look into how those things work first.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to make this all work though? I should be able to at the very least just toss a battery in there with the LEDs to power them shouldn't I? (assuming I mess up on getting power from the USB cord)

I'll keep you all posted on this project.

If you were to try and make the mouse like a lightning ball it would have to be gas sealed as those things use a particular gas for the effect i think its argon or something to that extent.
If you want to look up making the mouse flash look in your local electronics store for some PCB circuit board wire and a 555 timer IC then look up some diagrams online that should help you greatly.

How to make the brightest mouse:
1. Buy any mouse.
2. Buy 4 pounds of white phosphorus and 1 pound of magnesium (in strip form).
3. Slather the mouse with a paste form of said phosphorus and wrap the mouse in the magnesium strip.
4. Apply heat with blowtorch.
5. Pure mother fucking awesome.

LOL

that lightning ball idea would be cool.

From the thread title, I was expecting genetically-engineered, phosphorescent rodents. This is cool too.

Good luck with this, I hope you can use the USB power but you might have to fool around with the mouse's own wiring to do that. I'm no circuits expert.

To make the brightest mouse, you need green LEDs since the average eye is most sensitive to green light.
