Republican wins deal blow to Obama
Republicans win Virginia, New Jersey governorships from Democrats
All I can do is laugh at New Jersey...
Article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33597807/ns/politics-more_politics/)
E: also, wtf. Why is Bloomberg (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33574679/ns/politics-more_politics/)still in office.
E2: Only place (http://www.foxnews.com/)I could find actual running numbers on the Gubernatorial Race in New Jersey and Virginia

Bloomberg is still in office because he gets shit done and the voters actually vote on his policies and what he's done instead of party lines which you should never ever vote along for obv. reasons
I'm registered with the Democratic party and I still voted for Bloomberg because he's actually good @ what he does and the challenger this year just didn't seem like he would do as well or better than Bloomberg has done so far
but really overall this election just shows the more right-wing-moving political atmosphere in the United States that's been building ever since Obama got inaugurated which is neither good nor bad atm because well politics is a long-term game and as they say "time will tell"

I like your thinking. I was just curious about Bloomberg because I kept reading he bought his seat. Living on the other side of the country. I dont have too much exposure other than what is reported on. :\ mainstream media

well he does have a lot of money so he can finance a massive ad campaign whenever he feels like it, and if the voters are dumb enough to vote for a guy solely because he makes great campaign ads then yeah I guess you could say he "bought" his seat but I doubt most people who voted for him are that stupid

Richest New Yorker?
yeah according to Forbes
I usually take all that talk of "X bought the election" and "Y paid off voters for votes" and whatever else the opposing side can come up with with a huge grain of salt because 99% of the time political mudslinging is just that, mudslinging, with absolutely nothing to back it up, see the birthers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories), there are for sure way more high-exposure cases of political mudslinging that entered the mainstream and turned out to be completely false but the birthing movement is the most recent & prolific
in general I find the media at large to be pretty much useless when they're not reporting easily verifiable facts because there's always a hidden (or overt) bias or ulterior motive behind anything that sounds like it could be an opinion
but that's just me as it seems the general world populace (particularly America, although it might just seem that way because I live here) is perfectly willing to believe literally everything they see in the news as 100% fact, something which I frankly find a bit distressing
back on topic though, I see the Republican victories as a good thing for national politics (at least in the foreseeable short-term) because incumbents generally suck as they're only willing to do what it takes to get re-elected and keep getting their fat paycheck, instead of doing what they originally set out to do

Oh fuck no Chris Christie won NJ fuck.
That fucking moron asshole is worse than that dumbfuck Corzine.
Hell, I'm not a democrat (not republican, might I add), but still, at least Corzine was too big of an idiot to ever do anything bad.

Yeah, when I saw that shit on the news, I was like, "Well, I guess hate politics are working for the Republicans..."
But I love the headlines over at Fox "News:"
"VOTERS SAY NO TO OBAMA POLICIES"
Haha, because it's not even been a year and it's not like we're voting for president.
Also, keep in mind that a good majority of people DO NOT VOTE in these small elections--mainly the elderly. The elderly have always had a more considerable conservative slant and so that's how the results come out.
Can't wait for Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh to talk about this "defeat" of the President.

That's why I'm pro a term limit for any and all elected positions in the government. The (recently) deceased Kennedy was in office longer than Stalin.

stalin was a mass-murdering dictator of a totalitarian communist state and ted kennedy was a senator, I'm failing to see the comparison
oh wait I see where you were going with that he was a democrat that makes him identical to a communist
shitty comparisons aside I agree w/ you on forced term limits for all governmental positions

I wasn't equating Dems with Stalin but hey. Whatever floats y'alls personal interpretive votes.
It was a comparison of everyone who is in office for a ludicrous # of terms hth.

I see no mention of the fact that in the 23rd District House election yesterday, the one that Fox "News" kept saying was going to be the most important election yesterday, a DEMOCRAT won for the first time since, well, the Civil War. This is the same election where some of the biggest hitters in the Republican party decided to ignore the moderate republican candidate and supported instead the far more conservative independent candidate.

1 Party that had enough power to do what they want, lost about 3-4 offices? Oh yeah... real revolting. Don't say anything about it until it's a Filibuster-proof conservative majority.

WA just passed Referendum 71 (http://www.king5.com/news/politics/Wash-supporters-of-gay-rights-hope-lead-holds-69162147.html). Basically same sex couple are equivalent to a married one, they just can't claim the title of marriage.

I don't give a shit about any of the parties. I will never stand for one party, only for the guy that seems to know what he's doing. I'm sick of listening about Sarah Palin all the time. She's a liar! Also obama is a socialist bastard who is starting the rebirth of socialism in California! I had enough of the political system in this country.
I just wanted to say this so it gets out of my head.
