View Full Version : Apparently Infinity Ward doesn't like dissent

So, I registered on Infinity Ward forums in order to make a few complaints about some of their more idiotic design decisions in the Xbox 360 version. After posting in a few threads (no more than 6 posts) I recieved a message that I had been permanently IP banned for 'spam'. You can go onto their forums and look up my horrible, horrible posts if you like (assuming they didn't delete all my posts too). Username is friedmetroid.

This is simply disgusting behavior. I reviewed 3 seperate threads (just in the Xbox 360 section), each hundreds of pages long, asking Infinity Ward to rethink some of their decisions. Each one was well thought out and well structured. Not one had a singly reply or acknowledgement from IW. It's become clear to me that IW don't give a shit about console gamers, any more than they do about PC gamers. Anyone who doesn't register on their forums to gush over their game, or call people n00bs for whining about the tube, can go fuck right off.

They have our money now, we're not worth shit to them. Personally, I'll never be purchasing an Infinity Ward product again. Not their next game, not any of their DLC. With Modern Warfare 2, I really thought that community opinion had a chance to make a difference. I was wrong.

Your complaints are considered spam along with everyone else's complaints. They don't care if you buy a product from them in the future or not. There's 5+ million others who will.

Well, cya.

Of course they don't care about their audience. All they care about is the bottom line. Now that they have a loyal audience that's willing to suck their dick for anything, they can screw over their customers however they want and still make a killer profit. They can now care about themselves over the gamer.

Face it, IW has gotten to powerful.
It's gotten to the point where they can screw over all gamers of all platforms and make shitloads of money.

I was considering buying MW2 but not now. Especially if they're going to act like that.

Replace Infinity Ward with Activision and you'll be correct.

I' pretty sure that if Infinity Ward wanted, they could of pushed hard enough to make Activision do what they wanted... It's not like IW was known for making bad decisions until this fiasco, so I doubt Activision wouldn't of heard them out at least.

Uh, LAN removed from Starcraft 2 completely? Hello?

That was Blizzards decision, not Activisions, they stated it in a press release somewhere.

seems awfully coincidental freelancer.

Activision is pulling the strings but it doesnt look like IW is resisting.

IW has become too powerful....

They must be stopped.

I think it's Activision behind this, but IW is still to blame for not challenging them even more. This is Modern Warfare 2, the most anticipated game of all time, next to Halo 3. They could have easily found another publisher to work with. Unless the COD name is bound to Activision.

Meh. Yeah, its a business. Boycott 'em. If enough people think your cause is worthy, IW will listen.

I'm sure the game went through hundreds of iterations to get to the point it is now. To be honest, its getting to the point where I'm like, "So, your entire experience is ruined because the game doesn't have 'X'"? You don't have to buy the game, which is, effectively, a boycott.

CAD sums up my thoughts on this. (http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/news.php?i=1966)

Lastly, people think Activision and Infinity Ward are evil bastards that deserve hellfire. There is a saying: Never attribute to malice that which is equally explained by incompetence. How many of these execs do you think plays games? How many of them, do you think, does anything but analyze statistics or nothing at all. I'm not trying to excuse them, but I don't think that the objective in their minds was, "LET'S SCREW THESE KIDDIES OVER TEEHEHE." Much more like, "We don't need this feature do we? Minor enough, and it'll same some dev time so we can get to our next game and not waste money." Game designers were probably screaming at their incompetent management in the background.

Thank you. Modern Warfare 2 is simply a case of consumer "It's the new best thing!"

That wasn't the point he was trying to make (I think).

He's saying that EVERY major title that comes out is hyped to near-oblivion and usually gets the title of "the most anticipated game of all time." It's a really meaningless phrase when you think about it.

You guys also seem to be forgetting that Starcraft II obviously has more hype then MW2. I'm sure that it would beat MW2 on the "most anticipated game of all time" scale.

Duke Nukem Forever didn't come close? Son it will forever remain the most anticipated game that never happend.
Sims 2 was the sequal to the then best selling game of all time.
GoW2 was the sequel to the best unshit flagship xbox had in the FPS genre.
BF2 is one of the most popular PC fps's of all time.

Added to the list:
Team Fortress 2 with an 8 (?) year dev cycle and again, the sequal to and now one of the most played FPS's of all time and father of an entire subgenre.
Also Starcraft 2 is being anticipated by the entire population of South Korea sooo

MW2 is just the regular hype around the next garunteed "10/10 5 star Game Of The Year game before the review copy even arives" best seller. :eng101:

Of all time? Really?
Halo 3 and MW2 combined doesn't even come close to being the most anticipated game of all time.

SK's losing interest because they don't think it'll be as much of a grinding game as the original is. Or at least, that's what my south Korean friend says. :P
