I keep getting blue screens saying that there is something wrong with NTFS.sys, and something about caching. I've tried getting rid of page filing, and making it huge (entire hard drives) but nothing seems to work. The only way to fix this I can think of it reformatting but I don't really want to (this isn't my PC).

Do you think you could post the debug code?

You might also want to backup all your stuff especially if it's for school/work.
You could try booting from the recovery console.
Or by using the CHKDSK /R command on the recovery console.

1. How would I get the debug code? Unless I write down a small part of it each time it happens, I won't be able to get it, it looks like it came from the BIOS, not Windows because an error code doesn't come up, but I could have missed it.

2. I've already backed my data up onto an HD

3. Is that safe mode?

4. I did the disk error checking in Windows, that came up clean.

get out the windows disk that came with your windows installation/computer. pop it in, boot up from the cd, and navigate to the recovery console.

crash course for you:

System Restore didn't work btw.

This was made by Acer, so the only recovery stuff it came with was the restore to factory defaults, which would wipe the data.

E: I think it said something like PAGE_IN_NONCACHED_AREA or something like that

EE: It was actually PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Download a Windows disk for whatever version of Windows you're running and do what Cojafoji mentioned above.

Or look around on the Acer website, usually you can get them to send you a Windows disk for this exact reason.

^Bump

I kept Vista for my family (they don't like Ubuntu apparently) and I finally worked out that the app causing the BSoDs is uTorrent. I tried other clients like Mainline and Vuze, but they ended up bluescreening even more quickly. I googled the problem but I didn't find anyone having the same problems. :smith:

This was the error statement btw
