THEY HAVE NEVER ONCE ANNOUNCED A RELEASE DATE AND HELD THROUGH WITH IT.

LET ME REPEAT THIS: BLIZZARD ALWAYS ANNOUNCES AND THEN PUSHES IT BACK.

That way they can build up some anticipation for their games.

Ugh, Diablo isn't even an RPG. There's absolutely no roleplaying whatsoever. If anything it's more like an arcade beat-em-up but with skills and items (think Gauntlet).

Ugh, Diablo isn't even an RPG. There's absolutely no roleplaying whatsoever. If anything it's more like an arcade beat-em-up but with skills and items (think Gauntlet).

While I agree, you shouldn't go as far as saying it's not an RPG... You seem to live in your own little world when it comes to defining game genres.

I wouldn't consider Final Fantasy to be a role playing game any more than I would Diablo. In FF games, your characters generally either do all the talking for you or else don't talk at all.

I'd consider something more along the lines of Knights of the Old Republic, where you have to actually interact with characters in ways that don't involve killing, to be a true computer RPG.

No, you don't talk to NPCs, the NPCs just monologue at you. You have no input on what your character says or feels within the context of the game.

It seems that everyone here just sees swords and magicks and automatically labels something an RPG, despite the utter lack of roleplaying. kind of like how ganon judges games solely on fp/3p perspective
