I've been thinking about it all day.
I want to buy CoD:MW2 because the game is good but I don't want to support IW after all the shit they pulled.
I feel guilty for never buying CoD4 though so I guess...
:saddowns:
It's a bitch amirite?

When I saw that I could get the game for $20, I jumped on that. That said, the game isn't nearly as bad as we all made it out to be, and the decisions Infinity Ward made (while badly handled and still slight slap in the face), weren't all bad ones. I think it was worth the purchase.
I'm a sinner though, don't listen to me :smith:

There are... other solutions to your problem Inferno.

While I was playing online on the official IWnet (due to some unknown circumstance that I accidentally modified my game) I got ranked up against lvl 70 players on multiple occasions. And my ping was usually shit so... yeah, IWnet was a horrible decision.
But I fucking love getting those 100 yard knife throws and predator missiles so I can't decide if I should buy it. The game was good the decisions surrounding it were bad.
And I do know that I could get a copy of the game from a "freind" but I think the games key is not activated until it is payed for (like XBL point cards).

Whereas I'm actually liking IWNet. I've had fantastic connections every single time, almost non-existent lag, and teamwork. Dedicated servers would have been preferable, but this isn't a deal-breaker like I thought it would be.

Matchfucking only works if you live in a massively populated area.
Otherwise it's shit.
I'm in fucking Alabama.
The only way I get good ping is if I am host or if the host is in Florida or maybe Texas. Which is usually not the case.
Hope that helps.

I live in Madison, Connecticut.

On a wireless connection with only 3 bars signal strength at best.

It's ok. I never bought CoD4, but MW2 was a must for me. The game is great.

What? Then why am I almost always > 150 ping? (like yellow bars apparently a MS ping time is too complex for console gamers)

I bought two copies of COD4. Not even considering getting MW2. Being that COD4 is still more played than MW2, I don't even have any motive to get the new game. It's like CE over H2V.
Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PL7pgVQb30
It's awesome how much faster and easier they made it to just jump in.
"So we're really giving the benefit that typically requires the learning curve of learning to get used to a server list and finding the right server for you."
"It increases the overall quality of the game! I mean you have non-laggy games, you have smoother gameplay, there's cheap protection, there's game customization out of the box." (http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/11/04/infinity-ward-on-modern-warfare-2-dedicated-servers-wait-and-see/)

Each bar in MW2 stands for 100ms. So if you have 4 bars, your ping is 0-100, 3 bars is 101-200, 2 bars is 200-300, and so on.
You can edit what each bar stands for (I decided to go with 25ms), and also make it so that 10 bars appear. Doing this, I have determined the average ping for most IWnet goers to be 125-225ms. Host usually has 10 bars.

I will say one thing that's very interesting. Modern Warfare 2 had 2 million people playing it on Xbox Live alone a few days ago. I just got through a matchmaking session on PC...a mere 67,000 people. That said it's an absurd amount of fun >_>

awww jcap is still butthurt.
H2V was a bad PORT.
H2 was a decent GAME.
MW2 is a good GAME.
they're two different things
you cant compare two things that aren't similar in any way, shape or form
hope this helps
jcap
November 19th, 2009, 11:17 PM
I wasn't making that comparison, asshole.
And for the record, Modern Warfare 2 is a port. It's such a literal port that they didn't even bother to change the strings between versions.

Please stop already.

If you were going to get it for 360, I'd say it's definitely worth it. For PC, your money would be better spent paying for MW1, you cheap bastard/

Yeah, but the PC version doesn't come with features that PC gamers are apparently entitled to.

Oh don't give me that "entitled" bullshit. It's about what has become an unwritten standard (Almost every multiplayer game since Quake has had these things). I decided to get over it and buy the game anyway ($20 :iamafag:) but don't look down on people because they don't want to spend the money on a product with less features than its predecessor.
Do I think some of us overreacted? Yeah I do.
Are we being "PC Elitists" by getting angry at the removal of features? No we're not.

One of three reasons
1) Doesn't have an Xbox 360
2) Prefers mouse+keyboard and higher resolutions
3) Less 12 year olds on PC :downs:
Hence why I have the PC version.

Heh unless your playing H2V. There is a age limit. You must be THIS immature to play.
And I like the game so it doesn't matter which platform I get it on.
