View Full Version : Halo 3 "Battery Ammo" on HCE.

Hello, i'd like to know whether it is possible to use the battery ammo like Halo 3's Energy Sword uses. By this i mean that it does not waste ammo\battery when you fire at nothing, but use ammo\battery only when striking a successful lunge. On the top left of the next image is somewhat of an example of what i want, which is as stated above, and for it to show on the HUD properly.

I think Sigma's done it, I'm not sure.

Other than them though I haven't seen anyone try it. Energy Sword isn't exactly a popular weapon in CE.

Impossible. You can't modify the ammo of a weapon unless it has a scripted name and even then it would be impossible to script a hit/no-hit check.

Unless someone has a better idea of course.

Aren't there hit effects? Can't you translate that to ammo use?

Unfortunately, making a weapon like that by tags only isn't possible. Age and ammo decrement at a fixed rate, whenever the weapon is fired.

well what i did was give it the first-person ammo function like the needler, i had all frames the same except for the last frame was when the sword was gone, it worked.

Is it possible to give the weapon such a large weapon charge that it would never be used up in one mission? I haven't looked at weapon tags in forever but I'm not sure.

I don't see why, instead of obsessing over having a lunge, people don't just make Halo CE energy swords with a 1 shot kill melee attack that has good range. :\

because it wont play like the REAL energy sword.

and most of them are thrown into shotty remakes of halo 2 and 3 maps (some are good so no offense to the mappers) and will change the gameplay.

No dont. Just give it a larger ammo reserve than most weapons, and make the ammo for it battery packs or something like that.
