I have flown in Economy on most flights, and Business on one flight because we won many miles or something. Business class's features are too many to name - leather seats, reclining bed, bloody good food, 15.4" TV, etc.

Let me outline just a few of the many features of Singapore Airlines that will appeal to us most:

Widescreen LCD screen, in every seat
You heard it - Economy has a 10.6" screen, Business has 15.4", and Raffles (First class) has 23". They all operate at 1280x768 resolution - highest in the sky. All movies will be shown in 16:9. Take that, other airlines.

The sky's most advanced entertainment
Krisworld - the name for the system, is unrivaled except maybe by EVA Air with its touch screen LCDs but lower selection of entertainment.

Krisworld offers over 100 movies, 80 TV shows (from IPTV), and 91 video games, mostly from the classic Nintendo era (NES/SNES/GBC). For the board/casino games (Big Two, poker, chess, etc), multiplayer between 2 or more seats is supported. I brought my Nintendo DS on the plane, but put it away and played these games instead, because I only had one game cartridge. After beating Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Super Bonk, Tetris, and others, I pulled out my laptop and played some PC games.

There's a 225-CD library of music for the tune lovers, but I didn't find it interesting.

And should you decide that you prefer your own portable video games or laptop PC games, there's a power outlet in EVERY seat, regardless of class, compatible with both North American and Asian plugs.

Feel like working?
No problem. Every class features 2 USB 2.0 ports next to the TV screen. Business and Raffles supply a keyboard/mouse on request, but you bring your own in Economy. There's built-in office software in every seat, so you can create documents and even presentations without a laptop. When you're done, save it to a flash drive and presto.

And if you prefer the laptop MS office, use the outlet.

Got money to burn for Raffles (First) Class?
I haven't had the chance or the miles to fly on this class yet, but a real bed, adjustable table, top-notch service, 23" TV, vanity drawer, and a menu that includes real lobster should sound good enough. You fly like a king and live like a king on such a class.

Then again, Business class is excellent too, and the seat even folds into a bed (somewhat), plus the TV's the size of my laptop.

Bottom line: Fly on Singapore Airlines if time allows for it. It will never, ever disappoint (except for that one computer crash on the entertainment system, which was resolved in 2 minutes). Even in Economy class, the cheapest one available, you get a nice TV, nice entertainment options, good food (I'm serious), and personal reading light. If you have the money or the miles, upgrade to Business, which is the experience of a lifetime. If you're the son of a politician, or if you're as big as Hagrid from Harry Potter, go for Raffles.

If you bring your laptop, yes. There's an in-seat power supply integrated into the armrest of EVERY seat, EVERY class.

Prices fluctuate depending on time.

I've flown with them last year to Tailand, we were in business class by the looks of it, because we had chair-beds as we called em on the way there.

Another thing to watch for is the damn sexy flight attendants :P Boy that was a nice flight, came back on Westjet, was disappointed.

In addition, I am still a Singaporean citizen and my parents hold DBS bank accounts in Singapore, so we have an easier time getting good tickets for lower prices :P.

Yeah, the stewardesses are good looking, but the sexiest part of SIA is the in-flight entertainment. That stuff is TO DIE FOR.

I remember RE-watching The Departed, Casino Royale, and some stupid Jackie Chan movie on the plane in business class, all in 16:9 with subtitles.

EVA Air has comparable features - 640x480 touch screen LCDs plus a similar inflight entertainment system but with a puny selection of movies/games. However, EVA has superior customer service.

On my last flight (spring break), I flew to Singapore on EVA Air (which had a lounge with Xbox 360s during the transit stopover in Taipei), and came back on SIA. Naturally, I preferred the return trip.

LOL, I see you were fooled by the pics of the keyboard/mouse connected to the SIA screen...

Sorry, there is NO internet (yet) on these airlines, but if you plug in a keyboard and mouse, you can still create Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents (using software similar to OpenOffice I think). You create the documents on the Krisworld system, but to save them you need your own removable storage.

However, I honestly doubt anyone will want to use the office software on Singapore Airlines with all the entertainment available.

There's also a tiny QWERTY keyboard on the gaming/TV remote handset, located between the D-pad and face buttons - unfortunately, it's only for SMS messaging (email offered later on), and both email and SMS will cost a bomb. I'm not sure if it can be used with the work software but a real keyboard is probably better.

The handset's pretty good - on one side, you have the in-flight telephone that no one uses plus the controls for the TV and movie programs. On the other side, you hold the handset horizontally, and you have the D-pad, ABXY face buttons, two shoulder buttons that most games don't use, and the tiny keyboard.

Oh yeah, the tiny keyboard can be used to chat with other seats during MP games, so if you wish to trash talk during Chess, here's your chance.

Double post, but anyway I did some inquiries, and yeah, a keyboard/mouse isn't necessary for the office software in SIA. The handset's tiny QWERTY keyboard (more like keypad) is usable and the game D-pad is the mouse.

Currently, round trip tickets from Vancouver to Singapore are $1600 Singaporean for Economy Class. During my spring break in March, they were $800 Singaporean. For all airlines, prices fluctuate frequently - they rocket sky high during holidays and are pretty low during non-holidays. Since my spring break isn't a holiday in most other countries, I got the cheap ticket (Business class, just over $2000)

Raffles class can cost up to $10 000 Singaporean, but it's ten thousand well spent dollars. I mean, a personal 23" 1280x768 TV for the whole flight? With almost 100 movies and 91 video games? And real restaurant-style food? Knock yourself out.

Economy class is probably the best deal, and I'll fly on that over the summer vacation (I always make a trip to my home country at least once a year to visit my grandparents, who are too old to bear a long flight all the way to North America). A 10.6" 1280x768 TV, the same entertainment options as the other 2 classes, and reasonable food is good enough.

Yeah, when you use Singapore Airlines, the trip to your destination is probably more fun than being there. If I were in Raffles class, I'd hide away as well too :P and get a free flight.

When I first experienced Krisworld in 1997, it was still cutting edge. You had a 7" TFT screen, 60 movies, 30 games (mostly GBC and SNES), and very limited TV shows with poor music selection, but it still beat what the FIRST CLASS of most other airlines had to offer, plus this option was exactly the same in each class on SIA (as in, first class doesn't have any bigger entertainment system).

Now look at the current SIA - it's well ahead once again with the $360 million USD upgrade to its fleet.
