If you have an area already modeled and cannot start with a cylinder, this works well.

Same thing in Maya, except grab the new verts in step 3 there and scale them out. You won't get a PERFECT circle, but if it's going in a game... then usually perfect circles are boring anyhow :P

holes don't necessarily always have to be round, but for things like holes machined into metal this works well :)

Boolean only works on non-sealed meshes, or else it just leaves fucking holes everywhere.
and especially fucked up holes if your mesh is a giant clusterfuck.

So can you do this over and over to create smoother circles?
