this is going to be vague, so please bear with me

iv been staying in the basement at my grandmothers house. its a finished basement with insulation, carpet, furniture and all that, but its still a basement. recently i have been seeing these freaky ass long insects that move fast, have alot of legs, and long antenna. thats all i know. i dont know what they are called (i googled earwig, but the resulting pictures dont really look like it), and if i see the fucking thing im going to step on it, so i cant get a picture. its like every time i look down i see one running accross the floor.

i know the description is really vague, but if anyone knows what theyre called, and how to make them gtfo, i would be infinitly greatful.

I'm going to tell you here and now.

Do not kill them.

I made a few threads about these guys and trust me, they freak me the fuck out. But they have a lot of pros (depending on where you live)

Where I live, spiders, cockroaches, ants and all sorts of pests like to find their way to my area of the house. Recently though, they've all stopped. Want to know why? because of the centipedes. They're very good at pest control.

They tend to not bother anyone, so just let them be. Trust me, if you dislike everything else, these things are good to have.

Having centipedes in your house is great, they take care of everything else and wont bother you. They won't crawl all over you in your sleep etc...

This guy payed me a visit a few years ago

http://bacon.modacity.net/img/images/centipede.jpg

Was about a foot long. Normally they are only 2-4 inches.

so you've found a way to not let the alcohol be absorbed into your blood stream before it reaches your large intestine?

I remember sitting at my computer a few months ago, lights off, only light coming from the screen, browsing the net... suddenly, my eyes cross and I see a spider with a tiny little body and hugely long spiky-looking legs (fully stretched out this one was probably the size of my watch w/o strap). Bastard just lowered itself out of the studs in the ceiling and stopped right in front of my eyes, about two inches away. It was translucent, too; I could see light through it from the computer screen.

http://www.life.illinois.edu/ib/109/Insect%20rearing/photos/cellar%20spider.jpg

Turns out, after looking it up on the net, it was just a standard cellar spider that really likes eating all the bugs I hate. So, I moved it elsewhere in the basement and left it alone. Only spiders I really hate are wolf spiders; not poisonous but they move ridiculously fast, jump and they have a taste for my flesh. Makes one ugly looking swollen bite mark :(
