How did you paint clouds like in this sky you made.

Making a thread about it so others can learn.
I see a lot of smudge tool in it but I still would like to see how you can apply this method in other types of clouds and particles as well.

How you did the lens flare I guess?
Limited
December 28th, 2009, 12:16 PM
Is that lens flare dynamic?
Con
December 28th, 2009, 12:32 PM
mkay, I will talk about lens flares
Right now I've written the intro, design, and half of the modeling sections. Lens flares will go in tagging, after the texturing section. I have some other things to look into, like what shaders can be used and how to animate the sky.

Clouds in different atmospheres maybe? Dark clouds, or how to properly make a sun beam come through a 'hole' in the clouds.

Be sure to explain to people about the model prefixes in the sky.(00. 01. 02.) etc.
Much appreciated.

I've finished the design and modeling sections, texturing and tagging are next. Also, it's not really a step-by-step tutorial. It assumes you can do things like compile models, link objects to frames, and make planes to put your sky elements on. Photoshop knowledge will be less of a prerequisite. I'm documenting everything I think is important to making skies specifically, and not the HEK stuff you should know already. However, I'll host it on my webspace here so I can make changes whenever people want more in the tutorial.

I've never tried to make a sky before and will consider doing so when this tutorial is released.

The tutorial covers making a planet like this. I still have a bunch of other topics I want to include, but I can try and finish up soon then add things in the future.

compare to this shot of Jupiter and it's moon:

Technically, my moon's way too big and close but I only did that for the purposes of the tutorial.
