The download is at the bottom of the page.

DreamScenes enable the user to have a video, generally a loop, to be the background, instead of a solid image.

HOW TO USE IT

1: Go to the Windows DreamScenes for Windows 7 (64-bit) folder

2: Copy and paste DreamScene.dll to C:\Windows\system32\

3: Copy and paste DreamScene.dll.mui to C:\Windows\system32\en-US\

4: Import Dscene.reg to registry

5: Run Windows7-DreamScene-Enable.exe, and follow all on screen instructions.

6: When done, explorer should close and a folder will open.

7: Ctrl-alt-delete and go into task manager.

8: Go to file->run and launch "explorer"

9a: Go into the DreamScenes folder and right click plastique.mpg and set it as your desktop background

9b: If the above didnt work, restart your computer, then try again.

****AERO PROBLEMS, READ BELOW****
If you cannot run Aero, Go onto the Start Menu, and type in AERO in the search bar. Something like "Find and Fix problems with transparency and Visual Effects" should come up. Click on it, and run through the wizard to see if your computer is capable of supporting AERO.

WARNING:
I CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR COMPUTER. IT WAS YOUR CHOICE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THIS VIDEO. IF YOUR COMPUTER MESSES UP, YOUR FAULT.

Can you play ".Dream" files with this or do you still need DeskScapes?

Files have to be mpeg2 (.mpg) to be used as a background. No other files that I know of will work. Also, the video background pauses when in a fullscreen program.

Unless this one is different, it causes the white text of shortcuts to disappear and leaves only the shadows.

you need deskscapes.

Unless this one is different, it causes the white text of shortcuts to disappear and leaves only the shadows.

all the vista to win7 hacks do that, this one is no different, its easy to (temporarily) fix but its still a pain.

if you want this functionality and have $20, get deskscapes, its worth it.

How do you temporarily fix it?

right click, personalize, desktop background, set picture position to something different and hit cancel/close the window, the dreamscene should stop...

now just go to your video and right click and set as desktop background again, and the text will be fixed.

you will have to do this every time you reboot.

Find a youtube video, convert it using http://www.dirpy.com to get the .mp4, then convert it to mpeg-2 using Vegas.
