the people over @ l4dmods.com have been working on the l4d conversion for awhile now, and i played some of the earlier versions, and while fun, still had some glaring bugs.

now though the No Mercy campaign is near perfect, there are ports of the other ones, but this being the most popular is the most complete.

i just did a co-op online runthrough... with bots until about halfway when someone finally joined.

i took some screenshots along the way and here they are, note they are ugly because i have all my settings on low.

and we made it :O took 2 tries because the bots are useless.

for convenience i took all the necessary files and rarred them into a single .. rar and uploaded it to my ftp.

first you need to go to your tools tab in steam and install the l4d2 addon support thing.

then download this file (http://bacon.modacity.net/stuff/l4d1on2/nomercyl4d2.rar)(143mb), and extract the contents to your l4d2 addons folder... be sure to read the readme!

and to play just start a lobby or sp game and when selecting a campaign click addon campaign and pick No Mercy.

im uploading the VS version now, but i haven't tested yet.

anyway we should do some coop :o add me on steam (StankBacon) if you wanna play.

anyway, HERE (http://bacon.modacity.net/stuff/l4d1on2/nomercyVSl4d2.rar)(56mb) is this link for No Mercy Versus... if anyone wants to give it a try with me, hit me up on steam.

just extract the contents to your left4dead2 folder. (SteamApps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2)


-edit- i imagine you would need the coop addon for the versus to work, so install everything, make sure to follow the readme in the coop mod... maybe not tho, i dunno.

-edit2- yes you must install the coop files for vs to work properly, please be sure to follow the coop readme.

-edit3- you don't need the campaign filed for versus to work, you need the l4d addon support thing installed.

To play versus just install these files (http://bacon.modacity.net/stuff/l4d1on2/nomercyVSl4d2.rar) like bacon said and make sure you have the Left 4 Dead Add On Support installed under the tools tab on steam. You don't need the campaign files in his first post to play this.

If you don't install add on support it'll look like:

Yeah I never messed with any of the video settings.

they've ported the L4D camapgins, only problem is D toll crashes after what would be the inital cutscene, the other maps work fine, on "the crane" in dead air, the small staircase going up RIGHT before the crane is wireframe, even with the proper files installed...but the campaign worked fine

gaming nazi here, yes its a bad thing. i guess if you like it you can have it, but honestly it looks better without it anyway.
