I just wanted to give it a run as it would be the only futuristic MMO I have ever tried...besides EvE, but EvE is different.
I played a good couple hours of LOTRO today. Skirmishes are the shit. I leveled up twice today using skirmishes, granted iIm only lvl 39. It takes me months to level up once, given my track record for actually playing the game.

I though about getting a key but I still don't have the funds or the will to pay monthly fees... what if I end up liking or worse loving it? Could only go downhill from there.

Paid close to 200$ for me and my brothers closed beta keys and now have two special addition games preordered. Yes I'm proud to be a startrek nerd. :3

This is my third time fucking downloading it. 6.5 GB is pretty steep for a beta, but then again, times are changing. Gamershell fucked up my download twice so I'm downloading from this site called BigDownload or something like that. Pretty fast speed, capped at 1.2mbps. 3.1GB downloaded with 56mins remaining? That's not bad.
Edit: Oh wtf. I'm now patching the game, about to enter into a server and In the news section it says that this is the last weekend to play the fucking beta. Cryptic decides it wants to send me all its advertising bullshit, but it fails to notify me that the beta ends this weekend and failed to notify me at all about when the beta began.

what you are downloading IS the full game. 6.5GB is the retail game. you beta codes lets you into the game, when you buy the game, it gives you a retail game code to activate and then you pay 14-5USD per month to play. Real bullshit, but their servers are quite fast.

All good MMORPG's do it that way, look at LotRO Amit, your installation should be sitting around 12.2GB's.

Yeah, I realized it was the full game when I was reading some rant in their forums. My LOTRO install sits at 8.8GB, but that's because I was too lazy to download the high-res client.
