There isn't a "proper" way to get models into H2V - another one of the restrictions that resulted in modding never really taking off for the game. However, Jahrain (what happened to that man) created a tool (urlhttp://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4069) that lets you "upgrade" models from Halo CE's gbxmodel format.

Although Korn said he cannot continue the H2V project because of not having the source files, somebody (or a team, rather) has to make some sort of editing kit.
Sort of how the H2X community made all those editing applications, especially Entity.

What source files? I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about.
The reason H2V modding is dead, is because the game itself is dead. As a programmer, I'm not going to invest my time in creating applications for a dead game when I can focus on something more worthwhile.

The source for his modified H2ek.
The one that had Guerrilla Radio, and all that.

He didn't lose it, he still has them. What he did lose is interest in developing for the game.

Search Google for:
ModNexus Forums Custom Weapon Models in H2V
Then click Cached (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=clnk&cd=1&ved=undefined&url=http%3A%2F%2F74.125.155.132%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dcac he%3AeNO6L1OxnKQJ%3Awww.modnexus.com%2Fforums%2Fvi ewtopic.php%253Ff%253D104%2526t%253D82458%2526sid% 253D694acdafde116093a2f7a2f2afbbd1b1%2BModNexus%2B Forums%2BCustom%2BWeapon%2BModels%2Bin%2BH2V%26cd% 3D1%26hl%3Den%26ct%3Dclnk%26gl%3Dus%26client%3Dfir efox-a&ei=h7pcS5eiK42qtgOG6omlDg&usg=AFQjCNHkMV7m48W-R7uve7HGBijuyyp3Jw) version, as that web site no longer exists. Perhaps when I update the tutorial I'll move it here.
H2V can handle custom weapons and equipment but not new vehicles (at this time) as they are locked down inside of the shared.map file which cannot be opened by any app besides a HEX editor.
There are examples of my most recent weapons/equipment running on the MonstrMoose Custom map server. Check out; Coag Redux or Sandtrap Remix to get an idea.

Sorry, realized i forgot to put this in. Im not interested in putting models into the game. I just want to extract the models and import them into 3DS Max 2010

Then that is much easier, but you need to use Entity or ADI and you need H2 XBox maps, not the PC version.

A newer Halo game or some new technology that isn't specific to any game of course

A newer Halo game or some new technology that isn't specific to any game of courseorly? :raise:, isn't Halo 2 + 3 dead (to them), so it can't be a "new" halo game.
this is most likely true anyway. :maddowns:

Halo 3/ODST/Reach are all pretty alive still

and now they are probably gonna be more alive than ever considering the jtag for the 360 now.

It doesn't give you as much power as an actual debug kit does though. Eg, you can't perform real time memory changes from a PC

Can we extract .map files with it?

It's been possible to do that for a while now, before the new hack was made public...
You can run modified map files (but you need a modified XEX) using a modded Xbox 360. So if you can transfer them onto the console, common sense tells you that you can transfer (or 'extract' according to you, not a good word choice on your part) them back to your PC.

This topic no longer serves a purpose. :ugh:
There is no exporting/extracting tools, for Halo 2 Vista (Ultimate Fail edition). :lolugh:
