I was just wondering what a good temperature for an HD5850 is.
Overclocked from stock to 850/1150, I wanted to know what a good temperature for that would be, I don't want to have it at anything higher than 50% fan speed, I believe im getting around 57*c under full load at 50% or around there ingame.

I wouldn't go any higher than 85 Celsius on that card.

Sorry but this is ridiculous, if you're going to do something you don't know much about, don't do it.

I'd say 70 degrees C is about the highest OK average you should deal with. I say "OK" because it's not ideal and you don't want to run it at that all the time, but you won't burn your card out in a week if you are just a casual gamer. If you're getting 57 C, then you're fine.

Its currently at 855/1200, running well, didnt go above 55*c with a little bit higher fan speed.
But why does it say my card is running at 8x instead of 16x?

What are you using to test the load temps? Run furmark and see if it burns up :)

I was playing bad company 2's beta.
I'll try out furmark and see how it runs.
and im not in crossfire mode.
e: its current max after about six minutes is 68*c I'm thinking thats a bit high, should I lower the clock, or up the fan speed?

You can increase the fan speed ~15% if you want but those temps are fine.

So hows that 120Hz display been for ya?

I'm loving it, its very clear, and I swear the visuals are smoother at 120fps than they are at 60fps!
