Hope they actually have a thriving city of New Vegas full of people, and not like in Oblivion where the city had like 20 NPCs with 5 personalities split between them.

There is an optional hardcore mode, the character needs to drink water, ammo has weight, healing isn't instant etc. Normal mode is more similar to Fallout 3 (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3) gameplay.
The storyline is focused on the New California Republic (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/New_California_Republic) vs. Caesar's Legion (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Caesar%27s_Legion) vs. New Vegas (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/New_Vegas) residents.
You are not a vault dweller but are given a Pip-Boy (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pip-Boy) by someone who is one.
There is a screenshot of a vault suit (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_Jumpsuit) as well.
There is an assault rifle looking like the M4, as well as a new big gun with a backpack, held like a minigun.
There are special moves for melee weapons in VATS - specifically a move for a golf club called "Fore" which seems to be a groin shot.
The Hoover Dam (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hoover_Dam) is in the game and is supplying electricity to the city.
There is a quest to rescue a ghoul (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ghoul) from some super mutants (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Super_mutants). The ghoul can then become your companion

That sounds pretty wicked. I never actually finished Fallout 3, due to my hard drive failing and no longer having the game, but I loved the game when I did have it. Chances are I'll be taking a look at this one.

Was the flag the NCR flag? Because otherwise I'm guessing it may well be Chinese (the chong AR's and shit had to be coming from somewhere and I doubt that many'd make it all the way to the capital wasteland between the liberation of Anchorage and the bombs falling).

The first Bethesday Fallout trailers generally don't give much away on the gameplay. However, this is Bethesda, a company who's created probably the longest running and most popular franchise of western RPG's and Fallout 3 was one of the best games I've ever played.

This game is going to exude awesome from every orifice.

Just saw the first screenshots for New Vegas and I have to say that from an aesthetic standpoint...I'm sorely disappointed. It looks EXACTLY like Fallout 3; same gritty brown everywhere, same mediocre textures, same mediocre lighting engine.

It would be nice to have a post-apocalyptic world that DIDN'T put a coffee filter all over your screen, but that's just my thoughts anyway. Who knows, maybe the game really shines at night.

Screenshots would be nice. Seeing that trailer reminds me of how much fun I had playing Fallout 3 at a friend's house; now the GOTY edition's out and I have a computer that'll run it... I should grab that to tide me over.

Hope they release mod tools since this game is probably going to be extremely buggy given Obsidian track record and the long history of buggy Fallout releases. Seriously, FO3 was even MORE buggy after the official patches, and only unofficial patches fixed them.
