The Lich king is now dead.

Whelp, that was the last character that I cared about in the Warcraft storyline and now the writers had to screw one of the best stories in all of gaming over like no other.

This is why I left WoW. Screwing with the story just so they can make a buck. I now have no reason to buy another Blizzard game even if they came out with another rts.

Anyways, tl dr: Blizzard got hit hard by Activision buying them out.

And you didn't have a problem with the ultimate goal of killing him before it happened?

It was only a matter of time.

warcraft is dead

(as a universe, not a franchise)

quit wow after it became shit after the arena was put into action, and retards could get epix, and actually got into proper guilds while having a certain mental disorder called retardation.

i'd play again if they put up a pre-tbc only server or something.
back when you had to work for your stuff, instead of dong dailies.

My friend who plays WoW said that the first guild to kill the King got banned because they used an exploit with rogues to kill him. Something about using some sort of a bomb to keep his area from shrinking or something.

Couldn't care too much though, Aion fanboy here :P

When I played WoW I didn't know of or care about the story.

1)kill shit
2)level up
3)do quests
4)kill more shit

Thats the truth. Most players on there could care less about the story; there are a few fans of it though I guess.

As an RTS, the Warcraft story was pretty good because it's rare to have a RTS with good story and sympathetic characters. As an MMO, nobody cares.

This is why good people should play LOTRO. It actually has a story that has been legit, interesting, and critically acclaimed for over 60 years.

I actually downloaded the trial when this was posted. I couldn't get the begining of the storyline, so if I do continue playing it'll be just to level up. (I did the same thing in RuneSeape).

Runescape had no story. It's a bunch of people running around in a world that looks like clay.

WoW is similar but not so horrible. Actually, in ways, Runescape is better than WoW because a lot of the things are controlled for you so all you have to do is click when you feel like it. (glider anyone?)

Really like the game, really hate the players that inhabit it. I stand by the joke of "they fuck around with the lore like they own it."

On a nitpicky note: Lich King is fine, Arthas is dead.

Technically the Lich King as Ner'zuhl died when Arthas became the new King. Also, he was downed by another guild first, but they got banned cause they exploited the encounter (lols).[first kill]

Also, Bolvar Fordragon is the new Lich King.[new lich king] :cop:

The Lich King can never die or the Scourge will go apeshit and kill everybody. They need to have a central brain.

WoW actually has a story? Ha.

Never played it, never will. I like the outside world.

I don't, I do know however that the LotRO universe and history is much more detailed and exciting to me. This is why I went with LotRO over Warcraft, the small amount of Warcraft lore I've read just looks like a distorted and altered version of LotR lore to me... I was brought up on LotR before Warcraft though, and I've read almost ALL of the LotR books and related material at least once so I'm probably pretty biased. Basically I find the Warcraft lore to unbelievable, LotR lore seems like it COULD be possible in a not-to-different "world".

Plus the majority of LotRO players are actually competent late teens or older folks that enjoy the lore as much as the next guy... WoW seems to be infested with immature children.
