I start out at 85 fps, then i drop to 10 to 20 fps after five minutes or so. I noticed if i look away from the action my framerates are normal and when i look to play they drop. In servers with 6 or more players it acts up as well.

I use resolution 1280 x 1024. Vsync. 85hz Refresh. I have tried disabling Physx and SLI. 75hz refresh rate. Locked to 30 fps, No Vysnc. Video cards temps are 55(131 F) and 56(133F) degrees Celcius at idle. Ingame temp is 66 degrees Celcius. Nvidia drivers are up to date. Version 8.17.11.9621. Direct X 11. I have disabled aero, windows 7 transparency. Bios was updated. I tried setting Affinity to CPU 0. I tried a microsoft video driver version. No problems in COD 4. Please Please help.

Try disabling decals.

Nvidia drivers hate decals so you'll have to disable them to get decent FPS.

Older driver versions don't have this problem. So if you're so inclined then do a little research on google to find some that work. I wish there was another fix for this.

I had the same exact problem with my desktop. Had an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 megs, worked fine for many years until recently. Ever since then, I have yet to even touch Halo cause of it. :|

Really? Maybe I should turn mine off and see what FPS I get :D

What version of Halo are you running, I assume its 1.09 (for the 4GB support).

I'm not buying any new graphics cards.

They all supported 4GB, it would just give you an error you could ignore.

Turning off decals fixed the problem. Thank you for all your help. Maybe STLRamsFan can start playing Halo again.
