I know there were commands to make tf2 look better and I know they are different for HL2 because of the different engine, but I was curious about some things.
1. Are there commands like this for HL2?
2. Since I play Half-Life 2: Update, a remake of hl2 in the orange box engine, would they work?
3. Since its in the ob engine, would the ones I used for tf2 work?

You could always try out the Cinematic mod, it adds super high res textures to pretty much everything.

add grunge and dirt, and make alex look retarded with massive amounts of jigglebones and longer hair with big busty tits and less clothes.
Nah, I'm good.

Are you fucking kidding me? Do you not notice that every single thread has a [HL2] tag and the prefix box before the thread title?

But good suggestion. Sorry for sounding like an ingrate.

HL2: Update is a good mod, but it isn't 100% accurate to the original. However, having full HDR, surround sound, and antialiasing is totally worth it, imo.

Yeah...
Any list of inaccuracies?

I think the main stuff is that a few of the facial animations don't work correctly (a little more rigid), and there's an aurora borealis on the Nova Prospect/Antlion level. The latter is more of a true-to-the-original thing. If you like it, then don't worry about it. As far as I know, most of the mod is the same as the original.

Yeah, I noticed it and I noticed it didn't fit the rest of the map.

Also, the mod author moved lambda caches around because he thought some were too difficult. :ugh:

yeah, they aren't very difficult to find. Was 45 the default ammount?

FakeFactory has the option to use original Alyx models and even some of the original other models. Besides the some of the characters, the rest of the mod actually looks pretty damn good. I use CM 3.0 (since I can't use the newer ones anyways), and that one actually stays true to the original and doesn't contain that shitty Adrianna Lima Alyx model/skin.

but they just add dirt and grunge to everything :/

I didn't think so. I thought most of the new textures were much better than the old ones, and the 3D trees vs. 2D bitmaps is good, so is the atmosphere-enhancing fog in certain areas, and most of the background characters are better too. The Batman/Tears of the Sun/etc. music also matched very well with what was going on (especially when you enter Nova Prospekt).
P.S. Assuming we're talking about FakeFactory. Can't play HL2: Update.

Yes fakefactory.
I do like the fog on the driving part that I saw in one image, and I do like that they extended some of the maps so that it isn't just 2d background images, but I don't like their textures usually.
There is a mod I saw yesterday to enhance some things, might check it out.

Wait, does fakefactory still have that really bad hand posing?

Wouldn't know. I can't play the newer ones because I don't have A.) a 64-bit operating system with 4GB of RAM and at least 512MB VRAM, and B.) don't have Episode 2.
