Meh I say. UCP-Delta looked like they just added an extra color to the ACU (so like shit)
To be brutally honest: The entire fucking military service needs one fucking unifrom. Then use variants on the camo style for the area of use. This includes dress uniforms too. It's a fucking waste of tax payer money to invest in uniforms and equipment for each specific branch.

Hey, you don't see me posting threads about the absurdity of the Ares I-X launch (hundreds of millions of dollars for something that provided no useful scientific information for a program whose bloat and politics ended up strangling itself and taking Orion and Altair with it. pisses me off).

I love how airsofters are always ahead of thet curve when it comes to camouflage patterns. We've been running multicam predominately on the "tan team" in tan vs green games and ACU and MARPAT literally for at LEAST 5 years... Multicam is very VERY popular around here though, since this area is all brown-on-brown during outdoor games most of the time... It works amazingly well in the pine trees as well though.

I'm glad they finally went with it, it's obviously the best pattern available right now.
I agree with you when it comes to a standard uniform Kornman, that's how we do it up here in Canada. CADPAT for all army based units and even some of the Navy, dress uniforms are all different though and I like it that way.

Pretty much. The Army's utility uniform already has greens and tans to be a universally versatile camo pattern. Like... a multi-camo. How is splotching it with brown goling to make it any more "multi" than that?

Well multicam back tracks to BDU style patterns instead of the ACU digital style.
Personally, I think A-TACS would perform better. Looks better too

iirc A-TACS is such a fine pattern that at longer distances it doesn't work as well, the multicam blotches are about as small as you can make them without sacrificing that long range element. A-TACS is definitely a really nice camo though.

Is there really an advantage to using these patterns or is it just the army going, "well, we've got these three colors see..." like they have for decades?
Why don't they go to Cabela's and get some Mossy Oak (http://www.mossyoak.com/Camo/BreakUpInfinity.aspx)?

According to the Army’s test results, MultiCam was the only camo pattern to rank first in all three categories of the Army’s photosimulation evaluation.
Did you read the article... ? lol.

Is there a Mossy Oak environment in Afghanistan/Iraq? Hardly... Plus, camouflages used by hunters are designed to emulate foliage, trees, and other things you'd generally fine in a hunting environment. Military camouflages are designed to keep you concealed in a wider variety of environments and while you're moving to a certain degree.

Mossy Oak has tons of different patterns for just about every environment. Plus, not all wars are in the middle east.
The tests were done on patterns they have.

"while moving" i think is the key part of that answer and it makes more sense put that way. it would be too difficult to change en-route. the rest seems purely economical, a sort of "one pattern fits all" approach.

Oh and when the military wants to conceal people in one location they use Ghillie suit's, which are a hundred times better than Mossy Oak style patterns.

I think they should issue ghillie suits to every soldier regardless of their job. Then we could be an army of bushes. No one would suspect a thing.
