k, so basically, I'm interested in getting a 360 controller for my PC, let's just use -> http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Xbox+360+Controller/7457619.p?id=1126591945634&skuId=7457619&st=xbox%20360%20wired

What exactly would I have to do in order to have it function properly on both an XP and a Windows 7 PC? Will I just run official MS drivers and that's it? OR will I have to find some custom drivers, etc.

if its wired, just use the official MS drivers.

Will a wired PC 360 controller work on a 360 still?

You just plug a wired into your computer. W7 will auto download the drivers

wired 360 controller will work with the xbox and a pc.
i heard at my gamestop that microsoft discontinued the official microsoft wired pc controller (probably to sell their wireless receivers for pc). i dont know if thats true or not, but i figure its worth mentioning.

It's the same thing but with a different SKU, honestly.

Let me guess... Pretty soon they are going to make a special type of battery that is mandatory for using their wireless 360 controllers too :\

Probably not. They already have the mandatory packs for the recharge kit, so there is little benefit to restricting the controller to just that since most people buy it anyways.

Definitely not true. I see only wired versions of the controller and have yet to come face to face with a wireless "PC" version of the controller in RL.

there isnt a wireless controller specifically for pc. theres a receiver that you can buy that lets the wireless controller for the 360 interact with the computer. its not like the wired controller where it specifies that its for pc and xbox, but with the receiver it will work just the same as a wired one does
