I don't have a pool. Does a lake count? There are lots of wakes in my lake. I don't think they're caused by quakes.

My best friend just moved here from Utah, she had never felt a quake before and was talking about it over the phone with me right as it hit. I felt the shaking and started laughing like a madman.
She just panicked, threw down the phone, and ran for her life, which made me laugh harder.

Good times.
Also, here's what the AP has to say about this (via the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303382504575164452852417176.html?m od=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLTopStories)):

LOS ANGELES -- A strong earthquake south of the U.S.-Mexico border shook high-rises in downtown Los Angeles and San Diego and was felt across Southern California and Arizona. The U.S. Geological Survey says the 6.9 magnitude quake struck in Baja California, about 108 miles east-southeast of Tijuana.

7.2, apparently. They upgraded it.

I live in Huntington Beach, but I'm currently in San Francisco, so I didn't feel it at all. I hope my room is alright though...

The quake knocked over a stack of discs I had next to my 360, but nothing else, and I'm in Temecula. I think your room is fine.

This immediately made me think of this thread:

http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/seismic_waves.pngTrue, but then again, 99% of the earthquakes we have are just fun tremors that make stuff shake so no worries. I can't remember the last earthquake that actually did any damage...

She was all shaky for hours afterward, too. And she was pissed at me for laughing. :p

For several years I lived in a house with rattly windows in an area with strong winds before moving (back) to California. I mistook my first, I dunno, 4 or 5 quakes there (tiny ones) for strong wind. :P
My first earthquake ever tho was the 1994 Northridge earthquake, iirc. Had just moved to California not a week before. Was near LA at the time. My brother slept through it.
