Not a problem or anything, but in my ICT Course I am the only person doing a unit on server side scripting and I have reached the level of understanding about PHP as my teacher, so I have to solve problems my self now.
But, there is a section in the Unit where I need to describe ethical issues involving server side scripting. I was wondering if anyone on here could help me and tell me any ethical issues as I cannot think of any :S
Such a strange questing.
If you are wondering the course I am doing is: BTEC ICT National Certificate.

Ethics in server-side scripting?
Uh, would open-source be one? End-users don't have access to the copy of the script the server is running so they can't tell the administrators where a problem lies and how to fix it?
I don't know, I've always seen server-side scripting as a solution with little or no problems. You're right, what the fuck kind of question is this?

Oh god, I hate these type of questions lol, ethics =\.
I suppose one could be, the data is being processed not client-side, therefore the data is SENT to the server, perhaps you need to add in security checks/secure the data. For example if you were doing credit card stuff, you need to make sure its sent across the web securely.
Maybe the server saves the data its put, which isnt ethical in perhaps an NHS website, or again credit card details.
Another one could be, you KNOW the system is broken, yet you dont take it down. Thus people can still use the faulty system, and they dont know its broken. This also breaks the code of conduct for companies.
Heres a case history I wrote
A supermarket chain that regularly uses a price checking function on their website does not disclose all the prices that are higher than other websites.
An ethical supermarket chain would declare all prices of items not matter whether they are higher than their competitions.

Cheers, could someone breifly explain what Ethics is actually about as I never bothered to find out and I don't really understand what it is saying on Wikipedia. From what I understand it means 'questions, problems, advantages/disadvantages' ?
So dumb I am lmao.
