I've been doing some googling on this subject but alot of the info seems a year or two old. My hope is that I can use t-mobile or some other pay-as-you go provider with a factory unlocked iphone. Does anyone else on the forum do this?

Damn it, I thought it had finally come here.
Also, most Prepaid carriers are CDMA, if im not mistaken.

I have researched this before; last year actually. You are able to use the phone with a pre-paid service. However, I'm not entirely sure about T-mobile, and other providers. AT&T GoPhone service: a definite yes.

Also, I learned of this last year.. it may have changed by now. Honestly, I don't think it would have changed. Especially if you buy an Iphone 3G or older.

From what I've heard anton, AT&T has a way of blocking gophone service to iphones.

Where did you see that? I'm trying to find something specifically on that, but everyone seems to be tossing their answers from every direction. I can't find anything specific. You may need to go to a wireless phone forum and ask someone there. That way you'll get a better idea of whats possible, or not.
