So basicly, this is to discuss old classic games that have been long forgotten and need reviving.
I'm sure there's a few older gamers here so getting a decent list shouldn't be too hard.
I'll start off with this, if you can remember what game this is then +rep to you;

Yeah, I know they're making a third, but if it's anything like the second one I will gag. I'd really love to see the original redone with today's graphics.

Anyone remember a really old PC game called awok, or something like it, it was all black with green wireframe to show the characters, you controlled a like robot thing and you had missiles and could blow up marines and like bomb sites.

Carmageddon. Goddamn I'd love a current-gen Carmageddon game. Probably would get banned in Australia though if whoever the devs were manned up and kept the amount of gore and dismemberment as in the originals.
Goldeneye.

Activision's Goldeneye registration from a few months back may prove to be the first hint of a remake of the N64 classic. GoNintendo received an anonymous tip of a survey showing off supposed box art for the remake, along with a paragraph detailing the game as a revival of the N64 game.
It promises familiar locations and enemies, with Daniel Craig stepping into the Pierce Brosnan role
A Rare spokesperson told CVG, "I can confirm that currently Rare are not working on a new Golden Eye game."

Oh dear god :smith:
I heard somewhere else that the actual devs are the same team behind World is Not Enough, Agent Under Fire and Nightfire which I think were really good Bond games. We'll have to wait and see how it will turn out at E3.

Some community is redoing all of the graphics for that game series. I cannot for the life of me find the link. Whoops, here we go: http://www.xwaupgrade.com/
Also, a total remake of Total Annihilation with up to date usability.

I think it's about time that Metroid 2: Return of Samus got an upgrade to bring it into the modern era. After the original game got a remake that was a huge success, I'm hoping a remake for Metroid 2 won't be far behind.

Re-make Crash Bandicoot 1-3 and Spyro 1-3. Emulators can only get me so far (though they do look damn good).

Interstate '76. It can be made to work on a newer computer though only at 640x480 and when I had integrated graphics I still had to ramp up the antialiasing to 16xQ before it would slow down enough to be playable. Damn, it was fun!

In order of most desired remakes:
1. Battlezone series (there is a mod of Battlezone II which effectively ports Battlezone I to its engine with bonuses)
2. Wing Commander series (includes Privateer games, there is currently a mod using Freespace 2 engine to remake the Kilrathi saga)
3. Halo 1 (graphically with tertiary gameplay tweaks)

Age of Empires 2 (not so old, but old enough).

Star Wars: Rouge Squadron.
Greatest space game ever, although I can't say much since I never played X-Wing. :smithicide:
Also, Orcania of Time.
E: And while this one isn't SO old, if I don't see a Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remake using the Generation 5 engine I will be pissed. Ruby and Sapphire were awesome. The Pokemon weren't the best in the world (except Flygon and Rayquaza and maybe Groudon, those guys were bros, Sceptile was cool too, but 4th Gen really made him mostly useless), but the environment around you was spectacular; you went everywhere from a sandstorm to pouring rain to an active volcano to a town built upon trees and another town built upon floating logs to underwater.

I've never played Mechwarrior though, so I can't comment on it.
Another game that I think actually needs a sequel, not just a remake, is Tachyon: The Fringe.

Ocarina of Time does not need to be remade. Agree with Rogue Squadron though. As fun as that game was, the visuals were pretty terrible.

Rogue Squadron needs a remake-and-a-half... I always found that game too damn short. Another couple of missions would be good.

holy shit i was made for this thread.
fucking secret of mana on the snes.
omZfIkOvJzI
the game was made by square, so you will see some parallels to final fantasy (although nothing earth shattering). what blows my mind is the way 2 player gameplay works. the video i posted is two players playing on an emulator. it doesnt really show how it works though. see, you have 3 character, and when you press select you can play as any of the 3, and the guy you just stopped controlling will be taken over by AI (ill talk more about this in a moment). if you plug a second controller in at any point in time, player 2 can press select and join in to take control of one of the players youre not using. AND if for whatever reason they want to stop, they just press select and the AI takes their character back over. its so easy and fluid. i played through to undine with my sister. the 2 player mechanic is awesome (although shes not good at games).
now for the AI. theres a 4 by 4 checkerboard style thing called the action grid. it looks like this:
.................attack
.............[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
approach[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]keep away
.............[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
.............[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
................defend
so you put a tick mark in one of those boxes, and the ai will respond by maintaining distance and being as aggressive as you set them.
the story starts off pretty well, your typical thing forces your guy to do stuff (dont want to give anything away), and so you set out and meet some people on the way. it seems like at some parts the game doesnt go out of its way to further the story, but for the most part you always know what youre trying to do and why.
basically, i love this fucking game so much. im sure some of you here have some years on me, but im 16 and iv been playing video games since i was less than 2 years old, i have played and finished well over 200 different games, and i can honestly say that despite its age, it still remains on my top 10 list. oh, and this song is fucking awesome:

I'm playing through Starcraft 1 for the first time. On mission 10 of the Terran missions (FUCKING RAGE), planning on getting through the whole thing and Brood War.
Also on the side I'm playing System Shock 1, and planning on playing 2.

I suppose so but then again NFS6 was Hot Pursuit 2 so one could say NFS3 has already been revived. Then again, no NFS game released since NFS3 has captured my interest and enthusiasm near as much.

The new NFS shown at E3 is gonna blow chunks like all the new NFS games. They're not going back to their roots at all.
