Well, its now been officially announced, and I have to say I'm very intrigued, I love the new design, love the fact the stainless steel outer edge acts as an antenna.

Pricing will be an issue though, I do want one, but currently the 3GS Pay as you Go costs £449 ($650) for the 16GB version. We will probably pay out the ass for the iPhone 4, whereas apparently it costs $199 for US, which is £149.
Any one considering getting one?

Yea I'm most likely ordering one, really like what the new one has to offer. Pricing shouldn't be a problem for me, only thing I need to worry about is the capped data which I'm starting to plan out right now.

I'm hoping for an 80/120GB itouch (or better yet, ipad) come this September. I have a 32GB itouch right now and don't have enough space to keep my music and apps on it. I'm not going to waste my time getting a 64GB either as I'll hit that within a couple years too.
I wouldn't get an iphone though, even if it did have 120GB. Fuck AT&T only.

I've had the 3G 8GB for 18months, my contract runs out in about 10-11days. I will be starting a new contract with O2 once this is released, I will be getting the 16GB at £35 a month, which is what I’m at the moment anyway. I'M SUPER SUPER EXCITED! Watched all the live blog-age of the WWDC yesterday and all the new feature are just amazing! I'm not much of a Pay as you Go kind of guy, I know in the long run contracts are more expensive, but I just like the large amount of call time, unlimited texts and unlimited data on O2's contract plans...
Oh and I never got the 3GS as it came out mid way through my contract so... I’m glad I waited.

From what I've read, AT&T changed it's policy up a bit:
AT&T received harsh criticism from some customers (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10260080-233.html) who wanted to upgrade to the new iPhone 3G S (http://www.cnet.com/apple-iphone.html) but discovered they would not receive the best upgrade price. However, the company on Wednesday changed its tune.
Saying it has been "listening to their customers," AT&T is changing its policy (http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=13745) to allow customers who are eligible for an upgrade in July, August, or September to upgrade starting on Thursday at what it calls the "best upgrade pricing." The upgrade eligibility tools won't reflect the change in policy until Thursday, the company said.
If you qualify for the best upgrade pricing, you will pay $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model--these are the same prices AT&T will charge new customers signing up for a two-year contract. If you don't fall into either of those categories, you may be eligible for what AT&T calls its "early upgrade pricing": $399 and $499 for the 16GB and 32GB models, respectively.
Previously, early iPhone 3G adopters would have had to pay the "early upgrade pricing"--which had some customers upset.
AT&T will examine several factors to determine eligibility (http://www.att.com/Common/merger/files/pdf/iPhone/Pricing_Upgrading_FAQs.pdf) (PDF) including the amount of money you spend a month. For example, if you spend more than $99 a month on services, the company said you are more likely to be eligible for an upgrade after 12 to 18 months.
While this change is good news for those customers who want to upgrade, it does mean that they will have to go to a retail outlet and hope for an iPhone. AT&T has already sold all of its pre-order stock (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10264483-233.html) and said orders after June 12 will be processed in the next two weeks.
You can also try an Apple retail store if you're lucky enough to live close to one. If not, AT&T says you can order the iPhone from Apple's online store.
If you already pre-ordered the iPhone 3G S and find that you're now eligible for the lower price, don't worry, you'll be taken care of. AT&T said it would adjust the price of the phone when you pick it up from the store it was ordered from. If you bought it online from AT&T, it will issue a credit.
If you pre-ordered from Apple, it will issue a credit for the difference.
If you still don't qualify for the iPhone upgrade pricing, but really want to have one, you can buy a 16GB model without a contract for $599 or a 32GB model for $699.
Earlier on Wednesday Apple released iPhone OS 3.0 (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-10265918-37.html). CNET also has a review of the new iPhone 3G S (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10266575-233.html).

I love O2, always used them, and i'm on £35 on my 3G and the phone cost like £100 back in December 2008, but if you do a longer contract its alot cheaper, which will be the same with the new release of the 4, as the prices are staying the same as the current 3GS contracts. But i don't mind paying £90-£100 for the phone and then paying £35 a month to keep the sim card filled with credit (which is how i think of it) and i use my phone ALOT especially for internet.
I am glad we don't have AT&T over here, i'm not a fan.

Yep. If you look at this page (http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphoneindex/Pay_Monthly/3G_S) you can see that all plans are unlmited data which is great, but from what i can see there might also be P&G unlimited plans too, but i'm a big contact supporter so.
Anyway, yeah Orange, Vodafone... all those have good plans too, but i'm such a O2 fan boy... not sure why but yeah.

Oh look, another reason for apple to make money.
This.
Most of those features are possible on the current Iphone, if not possible on it.
Video Chat-what is stopping the normal Iphone from doing this?
Folders-should have been a software update, it is nothing big.
The rest are just hardware upgrades that are attempts to make it seem "hip" and "now"
2 cameras-what. Why?
a new high resolution display that doubles the pixels in each direction (960 x 640) for a 4X overall pixel count increase -- Apple calls it a "Retina Display." It's rated at 326ppi, which Apple claims is beyond the human eye's limit of distinction.
Sure, that's cool but again, why? Since when are portable devices expected to have such "crisp quality" or when does is this necessary? OlED, which as been used in a few mobile products, have an even greater pixel density as well as an awesome contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 compared to the iphone/ipad's ratio of 800:1.

You might not like the fact theres a new model, you might think the 3GS is sufficient, got some great news for you, it will be cheaper when version 4 is out.
I can see why your saying it though, it wasnt a massive leap, and with Apple saying its the biggest leap since iPhone 1, they are definitely tooting their own horn.
2 Cameras, why? What are you talking about, why the hell not? For something that can use Skype video chat, it was silly to not add a front camera into the phone in the previous version. Use your head deehunter.
Version 4 has tried to fix some problems with previous versions, its not just a new version for the sake of it.

People are making a big deal out of this... but from what I've heard Orange and Vodaphone already have these caps. However 3 is getting the iPhone 4 and while they haven't spoken about specific tariffs for the iPhone yet, most of 3's contracts support unlimited data and text messages and in comparison to O2's tariffs are £10 cheaper at the least.
I wonder if people will make the jump over to 3 because of the other providers have capped data... I guess we'll have to wait and see in the coming days when handset prices are announced in the UK and other providers show their contract tariffs.

After looking in to it, I really don't mind it all that much. The only downfall to it is the videos, skyping, gaming, and a couple other things, but all that can easily be done in a wi-fi area which isn't a big deal to me.

rather would have had an OLED screen then pixel density (i love how apple makes something that already exists, and gives it its own name to make retards salivate. ITS JUST FUCKING MORE PIXELS DAMN IT)
rather would have Verizon, i live in the boondocks, and the only carrier out here that gets signal is verizon.

Apparently some models of the iPhone, when the bottom left edge of the side (antenna bit) is touched with the hand, it loses connection completely and sometimes when the edge is held with the fingers the signal lowers.

Apples response? Hold it another way. Now I'm left handed, so I'd hold it the same way it would make it lose connection...Apple also promotes left handed use...

Report: Verizon getting iPhone in January
Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday that Verizon Wireless will begin selling the Apple iPhone next year — next January, in fact.
The business news service said that the iPhone's long-awaited move to a second carrier was confirmed by two anonymous sources who were privy to the matter. Representatives from Apple or Verizon Wireless (or its parent company, Verizon Communications) were unable to confirm the report.
The fact that the iPhone's second U.S. carrier would be Verizon is not a surprise — it's the largest U.S. carrier based on subscriber numbers. Also, the fact that there would be a Verizon iPhone in 2011 seems likely, as it would coincide with the introduction of Verizon's new faster 4G wireless network. (The iPhone's sole current carrier, AT&T, said it will roll out a similar 4G network in 2011.)
The only thing surprising about the Bloomberg report is that it said Verizon's iPhone would be "available to customers" in January. To be sure, January is a month when Apple likes to make news, but it's rare for hardware companies or carriers to launch new products into the marketplace in January, when consumers are exhausted from the holiday spending season.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the first iPhone in January 2007 to much hullabaloo, but the first iPhone wasn't sold until the end of June.
Considering where I work gives me 17% off of my phone bill every month through verizon, this has made me a happy person and is now leaving me with the decision of either getting the Droid X on the 15th, or waiting and getting an Iphone.

So I'm on a family plan (4 people) with my parents on AT&T right now, and I'm looking into getting an iphone 4. We already have unlimited texting, so will that cover texting for me or will I still have to have the iphone texting plan? ($5-$20/month)
If I could get away with just having to add a data plan that would be awesome, since I'll most likely just be paying whatever extra it cost each month and my parents will keep paying for the regular plan like they have been.

If I recall, when I sold my friend her iphone in March she just called AT&T and they added an additional $10 to her parent's family plan for the data plan. Definitely give AT&T a call but I think you'll just have to worry about the data plan.
