Hi,
I have got windows 7 x64 Professional installed onto my desktop computer. One of the first things I did was to install fonts and keyboard input for languages that don't use Latin alphabets.
On previous operating systems, I have used Left Alt+Shift to change the input language. But Windows 7 uses BOTH the left Alt+Shift and Ctrl+Space sequences to change the language.
For most users that is irrelevant, but for gamers, that is a problem? Why? Because every time the ctrl+space combination is pressed in-game, something will screw up.
In Source-engine games like Halflife 2 and L4D2, I will run into all kinds of beeping/stuttering and the game will refuse to respond to my movement commands.
In Batman Arkham Asylum, I find myself unable to use the corner cover because of this. In GoldSrc classic games, I simply cannot do longjump or crouchjump through certain barriers. All because the game thinks I'm trying to input a different language!
My first instinct was to use a fix that worked on the x86 version on my laptop - that is go to the Advanced Key Settings; in the ;Text Services and Input Languages and change or disable the Ctrl+Space key sequence for changing the language. I did just that. I clicked Apply and OK. But the Ctrl+Space combo STILL insists on changing the input language! I also tried rebooting after disabling the Ctrl+Space key sequence, no luck. The Advanced Key Settings menu shows that the Ctrl+Space sequence is disabled but pressing it continues to change the language.
Disabling the foreign-language keyboard is not an option, unfortunately, because I type emails and msn chats on a regular basis with friends and family who do not speak English (well most of them actually do, but it is not their primary language).
Does anyone know of a solution? Every google search I run just tells me to do the advanced key settings thing that had worked for my x86 laptop, but it simply isn't working on x64.
