Tool Error

When im trying to compile my map I get a bunch of random writing and this:
"EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

EXCEPTION (Thats all I know!)"

What the heck dose it all mean! I never got that in till today!!!

You're sure that's all it says?

There should be a file called "debug.txt" inside your Halo Custom Edition directory. Open it up and copy and paste the contents of the last block (should start with "tool pc 01.00.00.0609" or something like that).

Er- that error usually just means that another program is using your scenario file. Make sure Halo, sapien, and everything except tool are closed. If you have to, restart your computer and run tool before running anything else. That will probably fix the error.

Edit: And if sapien is giving you that error, make sure the other tools are closed. I've also found that halocedev.exe will sometimes cause that error. Not sure why. So try closing any open dev tools/hacks as well.

Seriously, we should have an "annoying tool errors" sticky thread right under the tutorial sticky. I'll write it if nobody else wants to.

When another program is accessing your tags the error specifies which tags are not accessible. This looks like the standard "I'm trying to open a SP map" error.

Could be, but I'm sure that I've had issues where it gives a broad access_violation error due to dev hacks/tool/Halo using some element of sapien. I don't think it's actually related to the tags themselves, but some element of the program.
