View Full Version : [CRYSIS] Halo maps + Crysis

Anyone got any idea what map I could remake for Crysis, just got it on my laptop, runs on highest detail :P Amazing looking game.
All I need to do now is fix the W7 bug where the admin can't access files so I can create a new level then.
Name some maps, preferably stock, and with vegetation seeming as that is what the game is good at.

I always loved to see, a lockout with alot more trees and that looks overgrown, ala guardian but less ugly.

The Pit.
I actually wanted to make this map myself but I fucked it up half way through and I abandoned it. Based on the Crysis MP gameplay for Instant Action the pit would probably play like sex. Fucking do it.
Do it with the steel mill assets. It would look so unbelievably bad ass.

And I could do The Pit.
One thing first though, I need to learn how to actually use the programs, and I need to make the assets, such as weapons and vehicles. Which I think I will make all from scratch, and sub'd them.

There's already a Blood Gulch or two and they're not that great on Crysis. Pit would be best for the gameplay, it's not a sandbox and not an arena either.

There's already a few Blood Gulches out there, and one that's actually pretty well done, so I'd probably have to agree with Inferno on The Pit. I know Bungie released some very early concept art/designs of it in a recent article, you might find a few ideas there for the overall design.
And again, I know I'm sounding like a broken record here, but I'll offer up those custom Forerunner textures if you decide to ever try some Forerunner architecture, or just to mess around with in the engine.

The Pit would probably fit in best with a lot of the scenery tags that Crysis already has.

Neuro, A lot of artists spent their entire lives recreating things in nature, doe's that mean just because they knew how to use a pencil or a paintbrush to recreate trees or mountainsides on canvas that their no more an artist?

No, they are legit artist because they are at least using the elements of art. Atmospheric perspective, vignetting lines, blending, etc. All hunter does is manipulate a program to recreate the exact same thing that someone else created already after having gone through the process of art and design. It's like the chinese copy of a honda civic. The chinese aren't good at making cars, they're good at copying them.

So basically if I model anything that exists I am not an artist. So if I was to model a barret 50 cal sniper rifle from a real life image I'm still not an artist. I have to design thing's my self to be an artist? ...

honestly hunter, what's so incredibly hard about making something which ISNT HALO?!
halo has a neat art style, i admit, but for gods sake man, there's more in the world than halo.
i've uploaded my entire inspiration folder multiple times, and so have others. there's an endless supply of ready-to-go-concept art around, yet you flat out refuse to do anythign which isn't halo.
you're good with 3ds, you've gotten that far, but now you're REALLY standing in your own way.
real important phrase coming up, get ready for it:
if you dont try new stuff you wont learn new stuff.
that goes for ALL of you fucking one-trick-ponies lurking, you know who you are.
how many times has everyone told yo hunter, to try something new?
please PLEASE do something NOT halo, you might be surprised how much you can actually learn from doing new things.
doing new things, leads to new problems, leads to new solutions, leads to a deeper understanding of the trade.

To get you one step away from doing something different then halo try thinking of something that symbolizes it such as forerunner architecture, but instead make up a different style of ancient alien architecture that doesnt remind people of the possibilities of where it came from (movies, games, etc..) try to be original with a different style of architecture, maybe even be the guy who is the only one who can master it with your own simple rules. Maybe possibly make it part of your own game when cryengine 3 comes out for free.
