Hey guys my friend who has been helping me understand the H2EK and how h2v works, asked me to post this for him. I have no idea why he didn't do it himself but here you go.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tools needed
Photo shop cs1-5 (preferably 5)
h2ek
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First we will open our photo shop, and make a new image that's about 115x115 then you will make the back round blue
r:00 g:00 b:255http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/5778/colorblue.jpg
Then make a new document and make it 110x110
then double click the background layer and hit enter
then fill the background with black
next hit "CTRL+A" then "CTRL+C"
then go back to your other document and paste the back onto a new layer
So you should have something that looks a bit like this
http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/4029/blackblue.jpg
then we are going to design out reticule it should be inside the black box and the same color as the backround
So you have something like this.
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/5523/reticlke.jpg
Now click on the channels tab right above the layers panel
and ctrl+click the blue channel
and go and click this button
http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/7729/channell.jpg
Then save this image as a .TGA file
make sure you use these settings
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5843/tgaoptions.jpg
then open your guerilla unlocked and make a new bitmap(On the usage setting i messed up set it to default)
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/9651/tagsettings.gif
then save that in the tag directory to the same place ans you saved the .tga in your data
then open the h2ek launcher and compile the new bitmap
then look in Guerilla to see if it compiles correctly with alpha(i changed my reticule before compiling)
http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/2122/alphao.jpg
then navigate to "Tags\ui\huds" and copy paste any hud i will use PP_test (plasma_pistol)
then open it up in guerila and go to crosshairs
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/8373/widgetsh.jpg
then scroll down to bitmap and navigate to your reticule bitmap
http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/993/bitmap.jpg
then below the bitmaps set the

fullscreen sequence index
halfscreen sequence index
quarterscreen sequence index

all to 0
the do the same things to the bitmap widgets named

crosshair_friend
crosshair_weakspot
crosshair_plasma_tracking

Then open up your weapon that you wish to attach this hud to and look for this section
http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/8070/interfacej.jpg
then change it to your hud that you made and viola you have made a new hud.

Hey cool, now you can have a custom reticule for your custom weapon that has no animations or physics or collision

Cool.

To be brutally honest it's like going out to buy rims for your car even though your car has no motor.

Why are people here so negative about this game? I mean its a great game that we are trying to make better. If you don't like what it has why not try to make it better?

If you never attempted something you thought was impossible then you have no idea what is possible.

Not wanting to start this whole shit storm again but the game was broken from release and no one has done much to fix it (except kornman).

And no. Custom reticules isn't going to help.

You honestly think Kantanomo is the first person to try and improve the editing experience in H2V? That list is a very long list which in all honesty has resulted in very little, even with the effort put in to it. That was the foolish mistake Kantanomo made, thinking the people criticizing him hadn't already tried what he was doing, and that they didn't already know that in the end it is futile. It is nice that you are trying to improve H2V, but in all honesty Halo 2 Vista is a lost cause. I would advise you and Kantanomo to go to a different engine. Try UDK, it's very shiny, and it's free.

Also, the reason Kantanomo had you post that is because he was banned from this site.

Edit: Sniped, in the Halo 2 Vista section? I am honestly surprised.

This thread isn't here for you to discuss whether or not H2V is worth the effort. In either case, respect the effort that he did put into this tutorial. There's nothing wrong with trying to improve something.
